Unions preparing general strike in Wisconsin?
hot air ^ | 2/22/11 | Ed Morrissey

Remember that public-sector strikes are illegal in Wisconsin; it’s why a few doctors have been holding open-air clinics in Madison to give out notes excusing protestors from work. Unions in Madison now propose to drop the pretense and declare wildcat strikes if the legislature passes the budget-repair bill that will limit collective bargaining and transform the public sector workplace into open shops:

If Gov. Scott Walker and Republicans pass a budget repair bill that restricts union rights, labor groups in Madison said they would endorse the entire of a general strike of unions around the state.

The South Central Federation of Labor endorsed the idea of a strike at its meeting Monday night, but they didn’t “call” for a strike, since members said they don’t have the power to do so.

There are a couple of caveats to this movement, however. First, the unions want assurances from locals outside of Madison that they will follow suit. If other locals have the same kind of suicidal enthusiasm, then the strike will move forward. If not, then this is just talk.

We are worse than Europe. They do not elect muslims to destroy their countries. Blair/Browne were pretty close.

call their bluff, put in place a contigency plan - new students ready to graduate in education - student teaching have them be prepared to step into the jobs. keep in mind let the strike runout till the union benefits run out the unions funds are exhausted. then the teachers request to come to the table - so tough you went out on strike, the union supported you, guess what go to your union and ask for jobs there are people whom are doing your jobs at a whole less in pay and the students test results prove that they are doiing their jobs. go back to your union and ask for your money back. because the taxpayers of this state are fed up.

Dear Mr. CEO of Kelly Services, Please contact me at your earliest convenience regarding an important business opportunity in my state. Whe the phrase "Win-Win" is looked up on Wikipedia, your firm and the Wisconsin taxpayer may be the case example.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Regards, John Q Public, of Wisconsin.

Call up Caterpillar if they need any resource info.

They did a fine job of roughing up the UAW.

Going on a general strike will punish the public,
which a lot of folks said was the next step for the left.

Now, of course, this will just harden Americans’ hearts to boot them further out of power.

There is a ton of stuff that Wisc’s GOP legislature could do right now. They could change teacher certification law. They could bar teacher unions from collective bargaining. Etc. But they don’t seem to be doing squat. Oh...they’re letting their Dem. colleagues vote by phone, apparently.

I said this last week—if the legislator and the governor didn’t take decisive steps quickly, they would lose this fight. I still expect that to happen.

Up in Canada we are constantly at the mercy of the so-called educators.

Make up some signs that say “GET YOUR ASSES BACK TO CLASSES”. They don’t like it a bit.

Pass "Right to Work".

Pass a law that any public employee who engages in a strike can be immediately fired.

Pass "At Will" employment.

Pass Voter ID and Vermont-style CCW while you're at it.

It appears the union strategy is to cause the Republicans to fold (or compromise as they often do) before the general public rises up against the unions. This strategy has so far not worked ... so they’re going to take it up a couple of notches.

Fire them all. There are millions of people who would love to have their jobs for less pay than they are making.

And no unemployment. Let them move to CA or NY or whatever blue states remain, and apply for gubmint work.

We could have a Reagan moment just around the bend.

There could be some great garage sales coming up in Wisconsin.
