Top Sunni cleric says army should kill Kadhafi

Influential Muslim cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi issued a fatwa on Monday that any Libyan soldier who can shoot dead embattled leader Moamer Kadhafi should do so "to rid Libya of him."

"Whoever in the Libyan army is able to shoot a bullet at Mr Kadhafi should do so," Qaradawi, an Egyptian-born cleric who is usually based in Qatar, told Al-Jazeera television.

He also told Libyan soldiers "not to obey orders to strike at your own people," and urged Libyan ambassadors around the world to dissociate themselves from Kadhafi's regime.

Famous in the Middle East for his at times controversial fatwas, or religious edicts, the octogenarian Qaradawi has celebrity status in the Arab world thanks to his religious broadcasts on Al-Jazeera.

Beck highlighted the speech this guy made in Cairo last week. He is a seriously "spooky dude", described in the article as "spiritual leader of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood".

I don't disagree with this clown but his fatwa raises a question. Is there anything that pisses off muslims that doesn't involve maiming or killing someone?

Just curious

"spiritual leader of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood"

I wonder if anyone has informed our Director of National Intelligence, James R Clapper about this guy.

When asked about the Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood recently, he did not appear all that concerned, and described it as "a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam."

Largely secular? Eschewed violence?

How does this guy keep his job?

I’m reminded of my old grandfather’s admonition to never get between two mad dogs when they are fighting.

Out of curiosity, I would like to know which group, Kadafi and his fellow dictators or Yusuf al-Qaradawi and his fellow clerics, have been responsible for the most blood being spilled in the world.

“...never get between two mad dogs when they are fighting.”

I agree.

Just shoot them BOTH.
