The seeds of criminal and anti-social behaviour can be found in children as young as three, scientists have claimed. More researchers believe that violent tendencies have a biological basis and that tests and brain imaging can pick them up in children. They argue that, by predicting which children have the potential to be trouble, treatments could be introduced to keep them on the straight and narrow. If the tests are accurate enough then a form of screening could be introduced in the same way we test for some diseases.

My fear is that this does not address the moral questions at all. The well intended scientists may find out that in addition to damping down possible criminal tendencies, they have managed to damp down heroism in the process. One is a use of one’s faculties for ill, the other for good, and the brain scan probably can’t tell them apart.
Brave New World. Those predictions/suppositions would be as likely to be accurate as are weather predictions.
I guess scientists have also concluded that things like the breakdown of the nuclear family, poverty, the failure of the education system, rampant unemployment, inflation, immorality, etc have nothing to do with criminal behavior. That’s why they make the big bucks, cuz they’re so much smarter than the rest of us.
Sounds similar in context to the 2002 Tom Cruise movie “Minority Report” where Cruise heads up the Fed's PreCrime Unit. PreCrime stops crimes before they are committed. The problem is: who guards the guardians? Especially when someone stumbles over something of the elites that they don't want known.
Yeah right, being a criminal is learned behavior.

Idiot Brits bent on preempting criminality need to start with the low-hanging fruit. That would be folks who believe in Islam, a mental disease shown to be able to infect perfectly normal individuals, such as civil engineers, and cause them to fly through office buildings on bright and clear late summer days.
I have a relative with 3 children. The oldest, a 7 year old boy, has had noticeable problems since he was 8 months old. In the last couple of years she had to start hiding the knives since he said he’d kill her and his brother and sister with knives. She had help who quit because they didn’t want to be around this boy and she has permanent scars from where he has hurt her. He told her he heard voices. Afraid he’d be a Columbine kid she took him to every kind of psychologist she could think of with no improvement from the usual therapies.
Last month she took him to the Amen Clinic (Change Your Brain - Change Your Life book) in S.California where they did a brain scan and they found out that all 4 lobes of his brain are abnormal. He now has been diagnosed as bi-polar with ADHD and was put on drugs for this. What has emerged is a happy, normal boy who says he feels much better. Apparently he will gain weight from these drugs so she has joined a running club with him. This is a mother who is going the distance - and he is very lucky his mom wouldn’t give up.
The question is, in what way can this test distinguish between criminal violence and martial aggression. Certainly, the biological presumption must be there for the soldier too, if this research is to make any kind of logical sense, and that opens up many more questions...
