ASPEN He may have been preaching to the choir, but former Vice President Al Gore stirred an Aspen audience Friday with a passionate speech about the effects of global warming, at one point pounding his fist on the podium and declaring it a moral issue.
(snip)
It didn't help, Gore said, that the scientific community committed some self-inflicted wounds. That was a reference to mistakes and misstatements in an IPCC report four years ago that led to a large amount of political debate and media attention.
I think the mistakes were blown way way out of proportion, Gore said. One reason for the mistakes, he said, was that a defensive culture developed among some scientists because they were harassed on a regular basis by opponents of the concept of global warming.
But the general consensus (recognizing global warming) is so strong and so firm and so widely shared now, that it is clearly the basis for action that the rest of us ought to take, Gore said.
He was asked about the popular confusion surrounding the topic. For instance, when winter weather turns extremely cold, many people question the concept of global warming.
With global warming, since the manifestations are distributed globally, it masquerades as an illusion, Gore said. It could be a cold winter in one geography while the world as a whole is continuing to get warmer. There can be more extremes of both heat and cold. There can be more volatility in weather patterns.

Oh! I have heard the answer to that, from leftist Algore apologists -
“it’s an investment”.
Is there a bigger buffoon on the planet than algore? I mean, really - his whole life has been one big Epic Fail. He has kept reinventing failure and infusing it with new meaning as his so-called life has progressed. I’m willing to be that if you were to list his failures - no one person could ever list them all. Does anyone remember how during the Klowntoon administration how he was supposed to be Viktor Chernomyrdin’s “special friend” and how that was supposed to be a boon for US - Russia relations? And there are SO MANY others. Of course most probably remember the trip to Monticello when he didn’t recognize the busts of the founding fathers. And the list goes on and on and on.
It is highly IMmoral to lie to millions over decades, promoting large volumes of pseudo-science to earn tainted billions. The man is lower than dirt. His Nobel, Grammy, and the Oscar each lower their awarding organizations to level of slime.
I guess the “Gore Effect” Wouldn’t be noticed in Aspen in the middle of February.
They’d just declare a powder day, close up the shops and hit the slopes.
It’s always for the “children”! Well, how about the adults like us. Come on Al, do the right thing! (sarc)
Aspen?
Gore?
Moral?
Bwahahahahahaha.
There isn’t a single IQ point in the sum of the entire population of Aspen.
I am unable to let go of the 51.5" snow visual that was in my yard last winter... END
Self-inflicted wounds? More like self destruction. They didn't harm their credibility by a couple percent, they lost 100% of their credibility.
Wow, talk about your circular reasoning . . . . . . Al, You da Man!
The reason they made "mistakes" was that they were being criticized for making "mistakes".
Yeah, Al, you spin that sucker and let's see how far it gets...
Algore is, himself, a “moral issue.”
Al, tell the truth. Does this cold winter make you sigh in relief, or have a slight twinge of disappointment?
The data that was presented as facts by Gore were blown way way out of proportion. Actual Scientists that pointed out that AGW is a hoax were harassed on a regular basis by proponents of the concept of global warming back in the days when Gore could still fool people into believing that he had a consensus. He tried to marginalized the 31,000 scientists that disagreed with him back when the public had only heard from the 2000, or so, that Gore and governments that want more control over your life could still fool the people.
(I'm guessing that consensus number of “scientists” that Gore had have probably dwindled down to around twenty or thirty by now)
But the general consensus (among his 17 faithful scientists (scientologists?) (recognizing global warming) is so strong and so firm and so widely shared now, that it is clearly the basis for action that the rest of us ought to take. The action that we should take is a clear message that We the People will NOT pay a cap n trade tax for a foolish scam that will destroy our economy further and lead us into a totalitarian dictatorship.
people ought to just stop going to see the moron.
"Harassed"? Interesting choice of words.
Liberal elite women used that word to sue companies for real and not-so-real reasons.
Is that what Gore's saying?
Those of us who dare to disagree with puffed up liberal elites are committing 'harassment'? Breaking the law? Gore wants legal remedies to use against conservatives who dare to speak up to a liberal elite?
What a jerk. Hear me, Al - you're a jerk, a totalitarian and thin skinned blowhard - we know what you and your goons are up to and we're NOT going along...
Inquiring minds want to know, did he leave his car running during his lecture?
That's pretty bold to be uttering the words “moral issue” when you're telling a lie!
Pounding his fist on the podium?
He should’ve used a shoe like his totalitarian hero Kruschev
