News Crew Attacked At Natomas Murder Scene SACRAMENTO

(CBS13) — Grieving family and friends attacked a reporter and photojournalist from a Sacramento news station Sunday as they covered the aftermath of a deadly shooting in north Natomas.

KTXL reporter John Lobertini and photojournalist Rebecca Little were attacked at an IHOP restaurant on the 2900 block of Advantage Way by a number of bystanders who had gathered at the site of the murder.

Video captured by CBS13 news crew a short distance away shows several people shouting profanities at the news crew at about 4:00 p.m. as a growing crowd began pushing and shoving the two victims. One woman pulled the photojournalist to the ground and other women kicked her. The reporter also appeared to be repeatedly struck in the face.

Neither victim appeared to suffer serious injuries in the incident.

Police are reviewing footage from the news stations who witnessed the incident in an attempt to identify suspects. No arrests have been made.

A woman in a white shirt kicks the photojournalist who was pulled to the ground. The incident took place more than 12 hours after a man was fatally shot outside the restaurant Sunday morning after two groups of people began fighting.

Investigators have not released the identity of the victim, but family and friends identified him as 27-year-old Chester Jackson.

Authorities are looking for two suspects, described as black male adults in their 20s, about 5’8” to 5’10” tall.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact Crime Alert by calling (916) 443-HELP or texting the tip to 274637 with “SACTIP” at the beginning of the message. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

I used to live near there, there's a Home Depot and Walmart nearby. I would bet the shooting was gang and drug related.

There's been 9 murders last year near my old house and it was one of the better areas once. This year, gang shootings have killed several teenagers in Sacramento, 3 I think in the south and three more just last week in the north. People are being foreclosed on, and whites cant sell a house to save their souls. Lots of blacks, hispanics and skinny tattooed white people. So glad I moved.

I remember when people mourned in the privacy of homes, family or otherwise. Nothing private about a murder scene, and I lose sympathy for someone who supposedly mourns by acting out in violence. Save it for a terrorist funeral.

I have long been tired of people taking advantage of public good will to turn public places into constant reminders of someone’s violent end. We used to plant bluebonnets on medians, now you’re just as likely to find a cross. Or its modern day replacement for many people, the mylar balloon and plastic flower.
