Wisconsin's Governor is Not Hitler [Washington Post Desparately Attempts to Cover for the Unions]
The Washington [Com]post ^ | Feb 18 2011 | Stephen Stromberg

Rachel Maddow on Thursday night called the war over public-sector union law in Wisconsin an "existential fight for the Democratic Party." Overstatement? Maybe, but it's tame compared with the despicable slogans that some of the union protesters have been injecting into the debate.

I must note that most of the protesters are carrying signs with civil slogans on them -- "Care about educators like they care for your child," for example. I don't think the unions or most of their supporters endorse the views expressed in some of the other placards. And, even if they did, the practical merits of the issue should be kept separate from the rhetoric that surrounds it, as in any debate.

Yet, just as the offensive behaviors of some Tea Partyers, birthers and others on the right deserve to be condemned, so, too, do some of the things that the mass protests in Wisconsin have dredged up. Here is a sampling of the some of the signs that the Wisconsin GOP says it has found among the protesters:

I have to believe that “Care for educators the way they care for your child” is unconscious self-parody.

Yep. They're saying you should abandon your children to go parading around shrieking at the public to give you money they don't have.

“Day of Rage?!?”

Yes, the Weatherman's 1969 rampage in Chicago is now the template for political discourse in this country.

Good observation.

Issa should investigate OFA.

Well, I'll be ... it's Chas(tity or whatever) Bono, showing solidarity with the non-teaching teachers. She doesn't seem to have missed any meals.

Have noticed very few American Flags at the Public Service Union gatherings and protests. Gee, I wonder what country these people support??? Sounds a like “Obama” communist blabber to me. All public service unions should be disbanded, period!!!

This is the classic "forced into a corner" column. After all the tub thumping when the Congresswoman was shot about "cross-hairs" and such, and then the call for civility, the left organizes a riot, aided by the President. The Washington Post can't ignore the Hitler signs and cross hair signs anymore, so they write their classic "a pox on both your houses" column, making sure to criticize the Tea Partiers more than the people who were out there holding signs. Spend as much time in the column misdirecting people from the actions of the rioters as possible.

Basic strategy:

1. If the other side does it hammer them relentlessly.
2. If your side does it, ignore it.
3. If your side does it and you can't ignore it, claim equivalence and shake your head, calling for more civility on both sides.
4. As soon as you've covered for your side, return to 1.

I must admit I have a tendency to steal stuff I like under the Fair Use Copyright doctrine. But I try to make a contribution to the conservative cause with it.

Thanks! It’s a GREAT pic!!!!!! :0)

Or, still unconsciously, they are saying, “Like you, we know in our hearts that your children are better off at home with you than they are in the institutions that employ us.”

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Monday is probably a holiday, unless they’re making up a snow day, and a superintendent or school board might give them one more day ... maybe have Wednesday be the “drop dead date.” Oh, was that divisive and inciteful?
