just got off the phone with Wisconsin State Senator Chris Larson, one of the Democrats who has left the capitol in order to stall the GOP's plan to rolll back the bargaining rights of public employees. Speaking to me by cell phone from an undisclosed location, Larson said he and his fellow Democrats would not return until the GOP takes its assault on organizing rights "off the table."
"Each of us is in a secure location," he told me, confirming that they were not all together but were monitoring events on the Web and on Twitter. Larson refused to say whether he and his fellow Dems had left the state, as some have speculated.

I remember they were staying at the Marriott Hotel at I40/25 in Albequerque, NM. There was a large billboard across from the hotel telling the Texas dems to GO HOME. Wish I could remember the exact wording.
If these lazy Reps have abandoned their jobs, they should receive no further paychecks and elections to replace them must be scheduled. The government cannot afford to house them at luxury resorts in return for doing no work.
Wait them out. Time is not on their side.
[I just called and they arent there.]
Don’t believe it. My bet is hotel staff has been told to lie due to the flood of calls that came in when their location got out.
Hmmm...but not a 3/5 quorum for "penalties" as stated in that article. That means the 19 remaining can be a quorum to pass a penalty that says, for example, after 3 days a missing member is considered to have forfeited their seat and the Governor can appoint a replacement until a new election can be held. Or maybe also create a big monetary fine for abandoning your seat...if the 19 alone can do those things under the Wisconsin Constitution, then the hammer is again with the Republicans.
Whoa, back up the train there. Free lunches?
Heck here in Milwaukee they get breakfast and dinner too.
Even during the summer!
Yep!
Is anyone familiar with a writ of mandamus? As I read it in law, it is “an order from a superior court to any ... public authority to do ... some specific act which that body is obliged under law to do”.
It seems to me that a legislator is paid to legislate, and that does not permit him to be voluntarily absent in dishonor of his duties. A writ of mandamus could compel these cowards to return to their public duties or be held in contempt.
Any legal opinions?
Excellent idea.
Where the heck are Wisconsin Tea party members to stand up against the socialists?
My first thought was what a bunch of cowardly drama queens.
Working.
Folks may want to be a good citizens and watch their properties for them while they are in hiding, still collecting salaries even though they are refusing to do the work they were hired by the public to do.
Its coming.
And this is why unions are bad...
JoMa
They have supposedly left the Clock Tower in Rockford, Il now because the Rockford Tea Party Patriots called for an impromptu rally there.
Larson now says they have “moved to another secure location” Keep your eyes out folks. Some are supposed to be hiding out in Dubuque, Iowa also.
