That video is EXCELLENT! Hurray for the Rockford Tea Party. I suspect the Dems have no idea of the consequences of their actions. They believe themselves immune but I’m betting on the people of Wisconsin to prove them wrong.

We should make a movie about this - “Bums on the Run”.

Here's what you do, since all appropriations-type bills (such as the one currently at issue) require a three-fifths majority.
Somewhere there has to be a "wish-list" of bills of other types which the Wisconsin GOP has wanted to pass, which need merely a majority of those present.
Call the governor, and start passing them rapid-fire, and have the governor sign them.
Then they are LAW.
Do this with five or six of the Dems' favorite things, and watch the missing Senators come back to Madison at Warp Factor 6 or better...
Cheers!

I doubt that there is a specific regulation stating that the Senate must convene only in the Senate chamber.
The 19 Republicans should immediately head to this location and declare the Senate convened wherever the Democrats are. -PJ
An excellent suggestion PJ2... Doing *that* once or twice will put an end to these kind of monkeyshines, posthaste!

To: Momotaro
The problem is not that there are no Democrats, the problem is that they need a quorum of 20 and there are only 19 Republicans.

That will ultimately reversed for ex post facto.
What say you?
I admire your opinion.
Sorry for the late morning post.
Dog started barking and had to walk him all over the house and outside to get it through his thick little cocker spaniel head “There ain’t no one there”. LOL
Little punk. He’s such an alarmist, so adorable and loving.
Still at 2 in the morning I wanted to kick his ....
Just hugged and told him he was a good boy. He gave kisses and said “I know”.
Look forward to your reply.

Haven’t had my chocolate milk yet. What will be reversed? DeLay’s conviction or TX Dist. 23?
I bought the kids a basset hound puppy for Christmas. She is the most adorable dog ever. She’s like a baby. Because I work from home, she’s with me all day. So when I leave for a short time, she gets separation anxiety and “cries” for me. Now I have to tote her everywhere just to keep her happy. She’s growing like a horse but still thinks she’s a lap dog. She makes these sounds like a moose when she’s trying to howl. It’s hysterical. Never tought I’d be so attached to a hound.

"The Rule 89 I was looking at deals with the Sergeant At Arms going after absentees who are AWOL. Seems to me that could apply here :)"
I'd like a Freeper attorney to comment on the possibility of arresting family and associates who help these Senators for conspiracy or some similar charge. That would certainly pressure some of them to return and do their duty.

Apparently the nature of this legislation binds them to the three/fifths rule for a quorum. Does anybody know where the text of the bill can be found? Can the bill be re-written so that it is not touching upon appropriations of money, but only the union question (and this eliminate the 3/5 quorum requirement)? Or is the union question necessarily tied into a clause that makes an appropriation dependent upon the union-status-change?

Somewhere there has to be a "wish-list" of bills of other types which the Wisconsin GOP has wanted to pass, which need merely a majority of those present. Yesterday I came across the rule that Wisc Senate rules changes require a 2/3 majority OF THOSE PRESENT to pass, but since rules changes are not appropriations, a majority would be a quorum.
Have the Republicans figure a wish list of Senate rules changes, and pass them.

I'm slowly getting the impression that the Republicans don't have their hearts in it, to really play hardball. They like to be seen posturing to try to castrate the unions, but don't really want the blow-back from the legislation actually passing. So we have this elaborate Kabuki theater where everybody plays a role in giving the public the impression that they're trying.
I want stuff HAPPENING, damnit!

So, why doesn’t the Wisconsin Stupid Party just start passing odious laws like The Right-To-Carry, which only requires a simple majority for a quorum, because it’s not a fiscal bill?
To: kiryandil
odious laws like The Right-To-Carry, What, exactly, is so odious about right-to-carry laws?

If the senators don’t show up for duty, they have resigned. Have the governor declare the seats vacant and call special elections! The GOP could pick up seats!

Would it be considered kidnapping if the Tea Party grabbed one of these leakers, bound them, dragged them into the senate chamber and screamed “a quorum is now present?”

What, exactly, is so odious about right-to-carry laws? If they passed it while their Senate Demmie shills were out of the state, Lefty heads in Madison would collectively explode, like the Martians listening to Slim Whitman in Mars Attacks!.
That's why Right-To-Carry laws are "odious" - to the Democommies...
