Argentina's relations with the U.S. worsened sharply Monday as the South American country continued to hold military equipment it confiscated last week from a U.S. Air Force C-17 transport plane sent as part of a training course for local police.
U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Arturo Valenzuela, called on Argentina to return the property without delay.
"It's absolutely necessary that they immediately return that material. It makes no sense for it to have been confiscated this way. This material was intended for a joint exercise in training people to rescue hostages," Mr. Valenzuela Monday said on CNN en Espanol.

and they now have a sizable group of Royal Marines.......
Just say’n
I am a huge Reagan fan, and I can tolerate Bush (one world view aside). I must point out some facts:
1983 - The US pulled out of Lebanon, after the Beruit Airport bombing
2005(?) - China refused to give back a P3 Orion that one of their pilots rammed, until they got all the info they could out of it.
It just happens that it is becoming more wide spread and the cool thing to do at the moment.
Precisely.
Uh Oh...just wait...the Free Trader Communist Globalists will try to work out a Free Trade deal with Argentina....because we need a Free Trade deal with Argentina so they won’t steal our military equipment.....
Why are we sending the Argies military-type equipment, in the first place? We need it here in America
Goes back further than that. Remember the U.S.S. Pueblo tht the No. Koreans seized in 1968 and held the crew for, I thnk, nine months. The ship is still being held by N.K. til this day.
.
Perhaps you are too young to remember the Falklands War.
Argentina has claimed the “Malvinas Islands” for many years.
They also claim they are in their territorial jurisdiction.
It was only because of the resolve of Margaret “Iron Lady” Thatcher, the dedication and force of the great British Military, and the backing of President Ronald Reagan that the Falklands are still in the possession of Britain today.
None of those characteristics exist today.
Britain is helping us in Afghanistan and can’t fight another war. And, they don’t have the Blue Water Navy
needed to keep the islands.
Also, the feckless boy-king is a wimpy, effeminate, narcissist, who will let his enemy, Britain, lose the coming war in the “Malvinas”.
U.S.S. Pueblo should be the first target the next time the NorKos try anything. (But, Obama is too much of a pu$$y!)
The Argentine military is a joke; has received very little funding since the Falklands War, quite a bit of their equipment has never been replaced, much of it is inoperable.
Even with the British military cuts they’d still crush the Argentines.
Read your history. The Islands passed from the French to the Spaniards and were inherited by Argentina upon independence. There was an Argentine Army garrison on the island when the British seized the islands by force in 1830.
This may have been pulled off to insure Obama DOES NOT visit Argentina. He visited Egypt and look what happened.
More proof Obama is just a skinny little big eared kid.
Why would Kenyanus skip Argentina?
Please supply a source for your information.
Why would Argentina WANT him to visit?
Ironic, huh?
Since I cannot link to a couple of British books on the subject that are out of print you may want to look at the history part of the following link..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falkland_Islands
England claimed sovereignty in 1690, and has maintained their sovereignty.
Argentina wasn’t even an independent nation until the 19th century.
The Falkland Islands belong to the Brits, the people who live and vote there, and they don’t speak Spanish!
“Ahhhh...the old “hostage rescue training racket “ I see...
They were first settled by the French. You can claim sovereignty. In those days just looking at a piece of land and they claimed it. We will have to agree to disagree on this one which is why the dispute will never end..
