Actually, Cacique, there isn’t a dispute about sovereignty. It is about whether the people who live on the contested land have a say is which nation they want to be a part.
That is why I said what I did about Cuba: it is absurd to believe just because a country says, “ those islands are ours” that would make it so. The people who live there on those islands have a deciding factor.
Over a hundred years ago Cuba belonged to the United States. The people who live there today would consider the idea that the U.S. can lay claim to Cuba flat out wrong.
I suggest the same for the Falkland Islands. It doesn’t matter what Argentina wants; those islands belong to whoever has been there for a very long time and, most importantly, do not want anything to do at all with Argentina. Colonialism is long dead.
They didn’t happen to confiscate any large burlap bags and manacles along with that first aid kit, did they? ;-)
