A slim majority of Republicans are still in disbelief that President Barack Obama, now in his third year in office, was born in the United States and therefore is legally eligible to be president, according to a poll by the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling.
The survey looked at whom these birthers prefer in the 2012 Republican presidential primary contest. Among the 51 percent of Republicans who think Obama was born outside of America, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee was preferred by 24 percent, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin by 19 percent, former Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) by 14 percent and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney by 11 percent.
Romneys performance improves greatly among the 49 percent who think Obama was born here or are not sure. He takes 23 percent among that group compared with 16 percent for Huckabee, 11 percent for Palin and 10 percent for Gingrich.
Huckabee leads with 20 percent support among Republicans overall, followed by Romney with 17 percent, Palin with 15 percent and Gingrich with 12 percent.
The nationwide survey was conducted Feb. 11-13 among 400 Republican primary voters with a 4.9-point margin of error.
I thought David Gregory was gonna die on Meet the Press Sunday. He was so frantically trying, urging, begging, exhorting Boehner to condemn Republicans who believe that Obama is a muslim or not a born American, he was jumping up and down in his seat.
Boehner just kept calmly asserting that it wasn’t his job to tell American people what to believe.
They laugh at the right for questioning Obummers background, but it is the left spinning to prop this idiot up to no avail. Every time you turn around the MSM is bringing this up. They are very worried about this. While the GOP is talking issues, the left has to waste energy trying to prove Obummer is a God fearing American. Hilarious.
It may very well be that the birth certificate lists his race as “white” and that’s what they desperately need to hide.
I don’t know where he was born or if he is qualified to be President, because there are no public records. I don’t understand O’Reilly and others who are willing to accept that everything is legal in the absence of proof. The question that should be asked is similar to the one that of all people Chris Matthews asked which is “Why doesn’t he just produce the long form birth certificate and end this?”. The other question would be why has millions of dollars been spent in legal fees to prevent access to his birth records, his college records and his passport records. If there is nothing to hide, why are they being hidden?
"They will tell you who they fear..." - Rush Limbaugh
Apparently, they will tell us what they fear as well.
They insist people ignore their common sense and gut instincts. Otherwise you are a kook.
I blame Governor Abercrombie for this.
A thing of beauty!
Exactly.
The Progs have convinced themselves that somehow flakking on Obama’s birth certificate is a winner for them.
hahahah hahah haha haha hahahh hahahaha
This would be a great got-ya question to pose to Matthews :”Do you think that there should be a competency test put to voters about Obama’s birthplace and religion before they can vote? That sounds like what you are suggesting.” Boehner was funny on NBC Sunday :"It's not my job to tell the American people what to think". That clip was played on all the MSNBC shows yesterday.
You remember these libs at NBC/MSNBC worried when voters thought Republicans were the majority in congress in 2008? or when voters thought GWB was calling for the military draft when it was really Murtha and Rangel, both Democrats??
I think the birth certificate issue is going to be big in the 2012 elections. I bleive Obama does not produce a long form BC because there is not one. If several states require it of a candidate to be on the ballot then it will really hit the fan. It is going to be very interesting.
Natural born citizenship rests on two defining pillars, to wit: Birth on U. S. Territory and two U. S. citizen parents. Place and Parentage.
We birthers are now the majority among Republicans!
No it isn't. You just have more people willing to speak their mind as time goes on.
And as for the tripe written here...
A slim majority of Republicans are still in disbelief that President Barack Obama, now in his third year in office, was born in the United States and therefore is legally eligible to be president, according to a poll by the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling.
No, Kyle, people believe he's not a natural born citizen as his daddy was British! That's a long way away from simply questioning where he was born.
Quit pushing the MSM meme and do some actual reporting. That means you have to first get your facts straight!
The more the left/MSM tries to depict the GOP as crazy, the more the issue gets raised, and people start to focus on it..
I found it interesting that Gregory was so desperate on this issue.
It would not have made the news six months ago. They would have ignored it. It’s out there now, and can only grow.
At the end of the interview, when he asked Boehner TWICE if “integrity” was important for a public official, I thoguht he was goign to ask him about the Globe report that said that he (Boehner) had several affairs..

I would add an item to this list.
It would be that you have to maintain the status of natural born citizen “FROM BIRTH” not just “AT BIRTH”. i.e. if you change your citizen status from the time you were born you are no longer a natural born Citizen (no hyphen and Citizen is capitalized).
Anyone who is EVER a dual citizen could not qualify. Especially and most importantly if they embraced or leveraged that status or status of being a foreign national AFTER the age of majority (i.e 18).
The only people who dont want to disclose the truth are people with something to hide
