This is a poor quality video to say the least... but here is a video showing Orrin Hatch at CPAC.
Hatch defiantly says he would vote for TARP / bailouts again. Sadly, some of the CPAC crowd stand and applaud. It seems like only the Ron Paul nuts are heckling him.
What the heck? Is it "conservative" to support TARP? Is it "conservative" to support bailouts? I hope the Utah Tea Party will show Hatch the door like they did Bob Bennett.
The Big Bank Republicans.
That’s why he is called “Boobie Hatch”!
When he gets it right, it’s relief.
When he gets it wrong, he REALLY gets it wrong.
Talk about arrogance or I guess his constituents are all asleep or are as bad as this. Term limits are something which must be considered.
Hatch is up for reelection in 2012. Adios, Orrin.
I’m glad that Orrin supported Ronald Reagan in 1976 but he’s been anything but a Reagan in Washington over the years since.
Its time for Orrin to go through “the Hatch”.
I support Term limits with or without them. I Also support the ability of States to recall their congressional delegation to stand for immediate special election..
That is to say the states that are interested should create a mechanism for ordering the recall and setting up a new special election for any and/or all members of their congressional delegations. (This has to be done at the State level as I DO NOT want the feds involved in elections period.)
What do you expect from a man who loved Ted Kennedy?
That would work.
Most don’t understand that most republicans in congress are socialists so they don’t cave to democrats they go along with democrats, because they are all socialists.
The other point is the left has compromised a lot of our organizations, CPAC being one. It can no longer be considered conservative.
Used to be that states elected their senators by their state reps. And they could recall them and replace them if they violated the states rights, that changed when leftists passed a constitutional amendment
Romney Mormon Youth League members....
Hatch Lugar Bennett and Snowe will be a regular foursome on the golf courses around DC in 2013.
But...but...the "Tea Party Express" says we shouldn't touch Hatch.
Utah supported Romney in '08 primary season by a 90+% margin, they will reelect Hatch and for the same reason.
” They longer they remain in office the more I support term limits”.
The longer they remain in office the more I support public hangings.
Guess we see things a little differently.
Of this I am quite aware, although it was Hamilton assertion that Senators could not be recalled.
Hamilton wanted senators to have a bit of an aristocratic flavor to them. Possibility to keep them above the politics, just as likely to make them less securely the defenders of state solvency they were meant to be.
If we are to repeal or otherwise nully the 17th amendment(under the article 5 section respecting senators) we should try to alter that mix, to insure recall.
Of course with respect to modern technology it might be possible to just do away with the senate and instead go directly with the Governors. That is if we could be sure that every State would maintain a Constitutional setup which has a Governor.(we can’t)
Suppose one of our States should decided to embrace a parliamentary model with a prime-minster. As Nebraska can eliminate its duel chambers so too could anther state find away to get rid of its Governor position.
