Thousands of protesters gathered in Yemen's capital, Sana'a, Saturday to celebrate the resignation of Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak and call for their own president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, to step down.

The protesters began marching toward the Egyptian embassy but were confronted and pushed back by a group of men armed with sticks. There were conflicting reports as to whether the armed men were police or government supporters.

The gathering points for Saturday's protests were Sana'a University and the city's Tahrir Square, which bears the same name as the rallying point for the protests in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

...so will it be the Yemenis or the Algerians who are next to welcome Sharia?

In Yemen, their democracy will be the worst kind, mob rule without the restraints of civility. It will become another Afghanistan with the most extreme Islamists ruling by brute force.

Many suspect Russian and Chinese involvement in the latest protests in Egypt and through the ME. However, for them to be successful, the regimes supported by the US have to fall.

Again, these countries are NOT client states of Russia (except Algeria, which defaulted).

Greetings PF:

Thank you for your kind words. Fortunately, such nightmares hasn’t been my actual experience; learning from survivors of Islamism, Fascism, Socialism, and Communism, is.

Unfortunately, many well intentioned FReepers and conservatives dismiss a reasonable approach towards the Muslim majority; what I call the “soft” Islamist. Soft, because they’re as weary of the radical Islam, as the better informed Jews and Christians are.

“Soft” Islamists are very receptive of the Jn3:16 message over the jihad message; despite fatwa for Muslim conversion to Christianity. Islam’s unprotected flank: other than martyrdom, there is no path to forgiveness of sin.

Cheers,
OLA

Videos interesting..Thanks

At the 2008 event in NYC, members of the Obama campaign new media team shared what they had learned with activists—here’s the first part of that workshop

http://www.movements.org/blog/entry/first-aym-summit/

“mass parcipitation revolution”[4:40]

“youth enpowerment” through social media, Facebook etc...

Movements.org is first and foremost about making it easier for activists to connect with each other and get the information they need.

I have followed the poll(s) in Egypt for years. The people there are overwhelmingly hostile to America and to modernity. I don’t expect much good from their possible new “founding fathers.” It is not just about Islam, as Turkey, which is a Muslim country, was until recently (pre-Bush) pro-American etc.

"how about an uprising against Obama, you in support of that?

I commented the other day on a comparison of a revolution in the US to Egypt, for example. Take Glenn Beck who held his orderly revolution in DC where over half million people came from all over this huge land of ours. It was peaceful, people were told to not bring signs, remain orderly or the media will report negative things....and, therefore; barely made the news. What was to report? Why should other media outles give their competition, the Glenn Beck FOX media, any press? Beck is always talking about how the "revolution is now" and giving a history lesson to all about who, what, when and where via his chalk board.

There was no pushing, no shoving, no violence, no trash barrels or cars set on fire, no signs against Obama calling for his removal from office along with Pelosi, etc. Then people tidied up after themselves and quietly went back home.

But it still was a revolution.

The Tea Party continues to be an active uprising-but is laughed at with the usual gay-ish slurs from the Left wing media and everyone learns a new "dirty" word--Tea-bagger! Like under Clinton, when your grandmother asked what a BJ was? Palin is laughed at even if the media, followed by Time, has to "invent" her comments. Albino-ish Maher, Behar and other comics take the Tea Party Revolution as a joke with a few geriatric, red-neck Bubba innuendos thrown in, etc.

The difference is no one laughed at the protesters in Egypt or other aforementioned revolutionaries in Arab-Persian countries. The media takes THEM seriously. Even media-elites like the perky Couric visited Egypt for a day, Diane Sawyer suddenly was all hopped up as she reported LIVE with Christiana Amanpour garbed in her usual jungle attire, On The Scene, who seemed gleeful when she was told she was "hat-ted" because she was American[even though she had an accent, it was assumed?], reporters were knocked down and punched and kicked like Cooper, the most serious released the very next day to tell their tales, they then took refuge back inside to report, a good time was had by all, compared injuries, had a few beers just like in the old Redford Reporter/Editor revolutionary movie where he is in Cuba covering THE story. Reporters want that prized Pulizer!!a few battle scars the better. However we don't see the same crowd running off to cover the protesters in Yemen!!

If Obama does not publicaly acknowledge his polls on Obamacare, continues to ignores the revolution quietly and orderly going on around him, as we are after all, the most civilized--then the rest of the world will not see how unpopular Obama really is. "You Lie" shouted out by Joe Wilson was as shocking and controversial as it gets. Then Joe goes and apologizes--more late night jokes from the Left.

So in case you missed it, and I can see how you might, we had an uprising and still continue to do..it's just not taken too seriously by Obama, like the little black dot of a fruit fly, now you see it now you don't.

Allegra, God Bless ya. So what is the feeling now where you are at among the Iraqis about this wave of “freedom”?

I think if we had a strong leader who had proved himself, we could try to turn it against the mullahs of islam but with obama, we might have to rely on non-White House planning. But hell you’ve been there for 8 or more years. What do you think.

If Bin Laden were elected President of Yemen Obama would fly there so he could bow to him.

He probably already has, somewhere.

Thank you very much PSYCHO. I am growing ever more tired of Freepers who shout DEMOCRACY as if there were some magic to the word. As you say, true democracy IS mob rule.

Listen FREEPERS! The great men who founded the United States of America never intended to found a democracy and never referred to it as a democracy, they considered democracy a political dirty word. Article IV, Section IV guarantees to each state a REPUBLICAN form of government and protection against invasion... At present the federal government is trying to institute a Democracy and is not only failing to protect against invasion but is suing the state of Arizona for trying to protect its own border with Mexico against invasion.

We need to learn to stop praising “democracy”, real democracy is a terrible form of government and it IS mob rule. Do not listen to those who spout the lie that a democracy and a republic are the same thing. The Coral snake and the Scarlet King snake are often confused too but one is harmless while the other is deadly, it is the same with a republic and a democracy.

does anyone know where Code Pink is camped out?

I think Obama is planning on being President of the Muslims after destroying America....all of these protests have a bigger agenda and smell of community organizing to me.

It’s weird how the hippies’ “peace sign” “ has become an essential part of these fanatical Days of Rage. The “western media” eats it up. Flash them a “peace sign” and they’ll love you forever.
