Save NPR and PBS (Again (projectile vomiting alert)
Defund NPR ^ | February 11, 2011

Posted on 02/11/2011 12:41:42 PM PST by La Lydia

MoveOn.org has created a petition to pressure congress into stopping their efforts to defund NPR. We can't let them win. Be sure to visit the link attached and let them know what you think!

Save NPR and PBS

www.pol.moveon.org

The Republicans just released their budget proposal, and it zeroes out funding for both NPR and PBS--the worst proposal in more than a decade.

Tell Republicans that cutting off funding was unacceptable last time they were in charge, and it's unacceptable now. Sign the petition to save NPR and PBS.

PBS is running round-the-clock commercials crying about the threat to its funding. Yes, PBS is using your tax money to advertise and promote its continued access to your tax money.

the best way to save pbs and npr is to take away all government funds and make them truly rely on public funding from donations.

the petition to save NPR and PBS.

But....but...but... they keep telling us that they only get a teensy tiny insignificantly small portion of their budget from the gubmint. So what's the big deal?

If MoveOn.org thinks NPR is so great, why don't they fund it?

Why don’t the ‘progressives’ put their money where their mouth is?
The arrested development crowd always wants someone else to pay the tab. Someone should tell them Uncle Sam’s pockets ain’t so deep anymore.

The only real loss would be Seseme Street which could easily move to the Family Channel or some channel like that. I know some don’t like SS but it is ok show.

The good programs like Sesame Street could easily survive in a commercial world. It is certainly a lot better than some of the crap on Cartoon Network or Nick Jr today. The other stuff will just disappear. Nova hasn't been any good for a decade since it stopped being about science and became a global warming pitch.

My local tax-funded NPR station is running a commercial encouraging listeners to use write their congressman using writerep.house.gov
You all might want to use it to counter this effort.

Any forced taxpayer funding for “education” or “knowledge” is getting only agitprop. You can NEVER have a government controlling news content—all you get is propaganda.

Same in education. It is crucial to demolish the DOE and get rid of all the politicized “school boards” which are pushing their aggressive cultural Marxist ideology to destroy our children with cognitive dissonance. The textbooks have been designed by Ayer-type communists and need to be DUMPED!!!!! NEW God-centered curricula like the McGuffey Readers where....our rights come from God—the Foundational philosophy of this nation

We are creating little atheists and we will have NO rights but man-made. That is what are legal system, schools and media are doing....destroying the concept of God and the family unit to create a One World Government. They are creating little godless hedonists to destroy culture.

I believe in “separation of press and state”. No self-respecting journalist should want to be dependent on government...
the Constitution doesn’t allow government to establish a state press....
one more thing:
in today’s Arizona Republic...ultra liberal activist editor Linda Valdez claims it’s “unpatriotic” and unconstitutional to believe in small and limited government because—she claims that the Constitution says that government should “promote the general welfare”....
This is the BIG LIE that the Republic and other newspapers never correct.
LET”S GET THIS STRAIGHT AND FIGHT THE LIE!!!
The Preamble is NOT the “law”, it’s the mission statement FOR the law. The Preamble is stating that the mission statement for the CONSTITUTION IF OBEYED is to promote the generaL welfare.
The Constitution is supposed to “promote the general welfare” by being the LAW that government is to obey. If the government refuses to obey the law then it is doing the opposite of promoting the general welfare and ensuring domestic tranquility...those things are what we and tea parties are fighting to restore. WE are the true patriots!
