Related news. Saudis fault 0bama on Egyptian crisis.

Saudi king must be reasonably wondering how much support he can expect from 0bama if protests crop up in his country. (Imagine the king: “Mubarak is an Arab warrior! What are you but a camelsnot community organizer?”)

Barack Obama, who said Egypt needed a "clear and unequivocal" transition of power.

Why?

I’m suprised the number of dead is not higher...

1os of 1,000s of protestors with guns and sheer numbers..

It may be that the media is lying to us...

Do you think they would do that ???

Mubarak needs more time to pilfer as much loot as he can before he leaves the Country.

I'm watching the networks and it's just like 1968 in Chicago all over again. What do I mean by that:

In '68 the protesters were egged on by the networks, at that time only three, to resist the police and disrupt the Democrat convention. Done for the favor of being covered by the TV crews and broadcast all over the U.S.

Same happening in Egypt. As I'm writing (actually yesterday) Shep Smith is whining quite mightily about the peaceful protesters and that horrible Mubarak. Before the gubment of Egypt (Mubarak) stepped in, 300+ of the "peaceful" protesters had died! Apparently killed by their own. Anyway, a lot of blame is on our present administration, when grownups should have been involved. And, now the muzzies (The Muslim Brotherhood) are telling Mubarak to get out and the country convert to sharia law.

What a mess and the media is prolonging it!

FWIW I noticed on twitter that the Iranian government is staging massive “death to America” protests and blocking Arabia TV coverage of Egyptian protests. Also quirky liberal Nic Kristof twittes “Is Hu Jintao watching?”

0bama has to up the ante here, otherwise he loses face. Mubarak must go.

But if Mubarak goes and an Islamist regime results, 0bama will have helped raise up another ayatollah, right next door to Israel.

Bet he now wishes he’d stayed out of it. He can be blamed now for being bested by a sick and unpopular old man — or later for the probable carnage of the overthrow and the fundamentalists that take over.

The military can stop this, but should have done so by now.

In any case, we’ve lost an ally however problematic it was, and shaken the confidence of all the others.

The Next Step for Egypt’s Opposition

Elbaradei NYT op ed piece

Many, particularly in the West, have bought the Mubarak regime’s fiction that a democratic Egypt will turn into chaos or a religious state, abrogate the fragile peace with Israel and become hostile to the West. But the people of Egypt — the grandmothers in veils who have dared to share Tahrir Square with army tanks, the jubilant young people who have risked their lives for their first taste of these new freedoms — are not so easily fooled.

Egypt Uprising - Foreign Minister Abu Al-Gheit Slams U.S. Administration for Interfering in Egypt’s Affairs:

“The question is not whether or not the latest American position pleases me. Ultimately, they have realized the need to conduct these major transformations gradually and on the basis of a roadmap with clear goals, guarantees, and phases. They were using the word ‘now.’ They said: You must do it now! But they changed their position...

When someone says to me ‘now,’ ‘immediately,’ and whatever, I say to him: ‘Boy, go play somewhere else.’ We will do everything according to the interests of our people and country.”

“.... It got to the point that whoever wants to gain points in his own country, and to give a show back home that he is a progressive-leftist-democratic-whatever, ....”

His speech drew a strong response from US President Barack Obama, who said Egypt needed a "clear and unequivocal" transition of power.

I thought ODumbo is against intervening in the internal affairs of other countries. Oh wait, that only applies to radical Muslim countries that have instilled strict Sharia Law. ODumbo can't hear the cries for freedom in those countries even when millions of citizens take to the streets and cry for help as they are killed and beaten.

thanx for putting this disaster into one thread; it is so historic (and fluid) it deserved it’s own.
