California GOP: Walking Zombies

Our last Republican to hold statewide office was Governor Pete Wilson who left the office in 1999. I’m not counting the last, failed action-star who just left the office and was about as Republican as Nancy Pelosi. Schwarzenegger supported both Cap and Trade, and Obamacare. The Republican brand has died in California. Many folks have been doing the post mortem. In the last election cycle, despite the Republican resurgence throughout the country, not a blip of hope was on the screen here.

The GOP is on life support, but they can recapture California if they focus on promoting propositions and building coalitions.

The Republican brand has died in California.

So, what are you going to do about it? Sit there with your thumb up your ass whining "ain't it awrful?" Pull it out and get to work dipshit. And this time don't F* it up with rino diarrhea like you did the last twenty years or so.

See? Politics is really pretty simple.

Welcome to Assholechusetts! Redux.

Where do these “ Californians” think all of their “residents” came from?

That would be Mexico, NY, MA, DC

Bloodsuckers all.

The constituancy which elected Ronald Reagan is long gone. In fact, the constituancy that elected Pete Wilson is long gone. It’s a different group of people.

It’s not a change in constituency as it is a change in the leadership and rules of the CA Republican Party.

Until we oust those trojan horses, there is no real party.

And with open primaries (thanks for nuthin’ Abel&Arnie), parties are pretty much irrelevant.

Right now, the California GOP is doing better than the Massachusetts GOP. Right now, Massachusetts has zero GOP members in the U.S. House of Representatives, zero GOP members in state offices, and only a very small number of GOP members in the state legislature (31 State Representatives and 4 State Senators).

California has become so dysfunctional that the time has come to consider dividing it up. There are three obvious divisions which would enable the non-leftist parts of the state to become independent of the hyper-leftist-dominated coastal cities from SF to LA. First, San Diego, Orange, Riverside, Imperial and San Bernardino counties (plus maybe some of the southern Central Valley) could be a very viable and geographically sensible separate state. Second, the counties on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada always should have been part of the state of Nevada from the beginning. Third, the counties north of the San Francisco metropolitan area would be a geographically cohesive and viable state, especially if they joined with some southwestern Oregon counties looking to be liberated from the domination of hyper-leftist Portland.

Riverside and San Bernardino counties voted for Obama, as did San Diego County.

Your wise and moderate comments kept me from being banned on this thread. It's simply infuriating when smart-mouthed out-of-staters who have no concept of California conditions or politics lob verbal bombs our way. I'm speaking of posters whose states send the likes of Kucinich, Kaptur, Voinovich, Sherrod Brown ad nauseum to Congress.

Yes, California has problems -- thanks mostly to the societal sewage, dimwits, welfare dependents, political radicals, rich elites and opportunists who came here from states to the east to take advantage of the climate.

It’s almost every CA thread, LOL. I’m kinda becoming numb. It’s always the same thing: everyone in CA is a liberal whackjob, we are doomed, wishing we sank into the sea, or one of my faves (/s) “they’re the best you’ll ever get in California.” These threads have minor entertainment value (and are useful in identifying the ignorant blowhards* visiting FR).

*I am speaking of other threads and do not mean this with respect to any poster on this thread.

I’m glad I kept ya from being banned. Sanity is appreciated around these parts.

I think that says more about John McCain than the ideology of said counties. He was really that bad of a candidate.

We really don’t know if a conservative can get elected in CA because all they run are democrat light. If they run just one conservative capable of funding a decent campaign we might find out. In 2010 there was no one on the ballot I could get excited about voting for.

It is so far gone the only thing to do is stand by until the Leftys go in to total fail mode and then rebuild from the ashes.

I think the same.

Moonbeam will put the state into economic cardiac arrest.

Then like someone who has ignored the warning signs too long, starts to find religion only after serious disaster.

Sadly we’re along for the ride.

California’s problems may be the very reason it is still in play; illegal aliens & felons can’t vote, and white “liberals” will vote for a Republican when the Dems have trashed a place (see Scott Brown, Massachusetts; Chris Christie, New Jersey; Rudy Giuliani, NYC). I’m not saying a conservative Republican, but a Republican.

McClintock?

In my eyes McClintock rates a C- as a conservative. He supports the invasion of illegal aliens and rarely speaks out against the fiscal irresponsibility of Kalifornia’s ‘leaders’. He seems to have no stance on personal rights and liberties. No one associates McClintock with the Constitution.

Need I say more?

Perhaps you have Tom McClintock confused with someone else?

On immigration, McClintock is staunchly against illegal immigration, for border enforcement, against amnesty, for U.S. sovereignty, for English as the common language-- and generally FOR the rule of law. He ripped the President of Mexico on this issue in a speech on the House floor. (A must see video).

As to California fiscal irresponsibility, he is legendary in his outspokenness on the issues of spending, borrowing, constitutional abuses, and fiscal recklessness. Since his election to the U.S. House of Representatives three years ago, he is now more focused on national issues than California issues -- doing the job he was elected to do. He is a member of the House budget committee and chair of a committee on Water where he is doing a bang up job. Regardless, he continues to publish his opinions on California issues.

As to personal rights, liberties, and the Constitution, I can only suggest that you read his speeches, his editorials, and his press releases. Also, you might try reading the articles archived here at FR, some posted by the Congressman, himself, or those articles archived on his House website. And of course, there is the Issues section of his House website that covers his position on a broad range of issues. If there is any particular "right" or "liberty" to which you can't determine his position, post it. I'm sure some knowledgeable freeper can probably help you out in that regard.

Need I say more?

Please educate yourself before doing so.
