It reads more like he is going to announce he will not run for reelection.

Not sure. Maybe this is part of the problem.

In 2006, he was named one of the 10 best senators by Time Magazine.

If Time likes you, that is not good. They say there would be no challenge but actions speak louder than words. You don't just up and leave for no reason.

I wish he wouldn’t. IMHO, he’s honest and hard working. My other Senator on the other hand, sits across the aisle too often. (McShamnesty)

Saying that he wouldn’t turn down an offer to run as a vice presidential candidate if a Republican presidential candidate thought he could be of service to the country, though he considered it a long shot, the senator nonetheless said it would be inappropriate to consider other job offers while still a member of Congress.

“That is the only office I would consider,” he said later of the vice presidency, noting that he wouldn’t want to be a Supreme Court justice. “I would not be a Cabinet secretary taking orders from some young (employee) in the White House.”

Why is John Kyle resigning?

Despite what Big Sis says:
Kyl does not want to be assassinated like Gabby.

He wants to beat Mitch out the door before the roof collapses on the GoP?

He will be 70 at the end of his term. Is that too early or too late to be retiring?

Tea Party Target, and he wants to keep all his leftover campaign contributions ..... make himself a legal millionaire, and NOT spend it on the next election cycle.

I wouldn’t read too much into this or Webb’s retirement.

Webb’s whole campaign and focus was the Iraq war which is pretty much over. I doubt he has the stomach for day to day legislative manuevering. He’s probably got enough material to write about a former Annapolis grad in the halls of Congress novel now.

Kyle has been up in Washington for a long time. He might just be tired also. He can probably get a lobbyist gig and double or triple his salary in a heartbeat. He might also try to be lining up to be the next Vice President of the United States.

Not to split hairs, but I’m sure you meant to say he doesn’t want to be assassinated like Judge Roll - despite what Big SIS (aka DHS Secretary Wayne Newton, courtesy of a radio guy in my home town) says.

Good answer! Best I could come up with is that he’s been caught answering Craigslist ads, replying as a woman seeking men who are very fit, fun, classy(!?) lobbyists living in the Cap Hill area.

Arizona’s next US Senator...... Gabby Giffords. She’s got time to recover and won’t have to campaign.
