The Essential Barack Obama
The American Thinker ^ | February 10, 2011 | Steve McCann

Posted on 02/10/2011 2:58:53 AM PST by Scanian

Today the United States finds itself adrift on a sea of uncertainty; its economy floundering under the weight of oppressive debt and mismanagement, its status in world affairs at its lowest ebb since the beginning of the 20th Century and its citizens openly questioning the future. At such a critical time the country has as its President a man unable or qualified to lead.

Barack Obama is a man without a core, leaving the ship of state without a rudder in the management of foreign affairs and domestic policy which have spun dangerously out of control over the past two years. A cursory examination of Mr. Obama's life and accomplishments reveals a man whose life has been centered around the discovery of two personal attributes (as detailed in his autobiography "Dreams from My Father"): his ability to deliver a speech and his skin color in a nation obsessed with guilt for the past. His writings and the sharing of a strong anti-colonialist sentiments with his father (see Dinesh D'Souza: "Roots of Obama's Rage") portray an overwhelming sense of entitlement due solely to his paternal African descent.

While raised in a sea of Marxist and socialist thinking, these philosophies only served to confirm his deep seated animosity toward the United States and the western world and not as a basis for any firm ideological beliefs. Over the years his reluctance to promote the purity of those ideologies whenever given the opportunity confirms that he has never been an abject true believer.

It’s not that Obama doesn’t have a core...it’s that he is concealing it.

We will pay an even heavier price if we reelect Obama.

Any many purified freepers plan on staying home in 2012 unless their 100 percent pure candidate is nominated.

I agree. Stupid is, as stupid does.

All you can do is all you can do, and if all you can do is avoid the worst case, that’s what you have to do. Unfortunately, some people value “I told you so” more than they value “I did all I could do”.

The attitude of many around here sickens me that they even contemplate staying home and allowing this truly evil man a second term.

I really can’t fathom what these people are thinking.

Rather Obama has used and manipulated the true believers into being the foot soldiers for his personal ambitions.

I think Obama's "core" is his love for himself. He's a narcissistic sociopath. He goes along with whatever he thinks will gain him personal power.

However, the persona he has created for himself or perhaps the Ayers-created persona he has accepted (from his books) is that of Third World Muslim Avenger (anti-Western, anti-modernity, anti-Christian, and stuffed to the gills with feelings of righteous entitlement). When this works for him, he comes out and says it; when it doesn't, he hides it.

But in the long run, it's all about him. That's why he's so dangerous.

Agreed. I'd also like to emphasize the danger of his smooth manner. Yesterday I was listening to the radio and heard a small piece about the fate of the "Man with the Golden Voice"... the formerly homeless street person who was given a job. This guy was an undisciplined bum... drink, drugs, family estrangement... homeless for a reason. But when he spoke... his voice was deep, warm, friendly. It created an impulse to want to agree with him.

Fortunately, that man doesn't have it in him to be a national or international problem. Barack does.

Worse Than Jimmah Carter.
Let’s make certain that the idiots who stuck us with this incompetent president suffer for their stupidity. One can feel some sympathy for the welfare class that doesn’t know better, so let’s start with the university Leftists by laying off as many of them as we can by cutting funds to “higher education,” which means indoctrination in anti-americanism as they turn out unemployable graduates with hundreds of thousands in student loan debt.

“He’s a narcissistic sociopath. He goes along with whatever he thinks will gain him personal power.”

He certainly had no hesitation about piling lie upon lie in order to achieve a “legacy” that historians would champion: passage of health care reform. The recent Bill Reilly interview in which he claims never to have raised taxes further illustrated his propensity to lie shamelessly in order to promote his own image and bend his approval ratings upward. He will do and say anything to promote his personal ambitions.

Good comparison to the Man with the Golden Voice. Obama just got lucky and got discovered. But it probably wasn't luck. Obama's one great skill is knowing which tide to ride. I thought this was a good observation in McCann's article:

Relying on his personal and physical traits, the gullibility and support of those desiring atonement for the past, coupled with his entitlement mentality, Obama has been able, akin to a piece of driftwood, to float upon the current until one day he washed up on the shore as President of the United States.

Very nicely put, livius. There isn't an ounce of grace, class, modesty or kindness at his core. There isn't even the vaunted intelligence that the media claims - there surely is a reason we've never seen transcripts, test scores, that his books were ghost-written, etc. He's never had to work an honest day's labor in his life. It boggles my mind that we have someone with his total package (which includes hating America!) as President.

How about a candidate that will fulfill his oath of office to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and execute the laws passed by our Representatives. Its been a very long time since the GOP has put up anybody serious about that. If fact once in office these GOP Establishment types (I'm looking at you Juan McLame and George "New World Order" Bu$h) seem to do everything they can to undermine the Constitution and the Nation. You just have to look around and see what they've wrought. I refuse to support men who've betrayed and ruined my country and I'm the bad guy? No wonder the late great USA is circling the drain.

He's a narcissistic sociopath.

Absolutely!

And his self-adoration incorporates or perhaps is even now based upon his being the socialist AND islamic messiah.

Before Obama, I never gave much thought to the connection between socialism and islam but there is a direct link. In a functional sense they are almost identical.

Of course, there is a difference in who is the highest authority in each, but in the end that difference is miniscule. In socialism, the state is god. And in islam, god expresses himself, in part, through the state (as the law through Sharia and in leadership through the ayatollahs). In both socialism and the islamic state, the individual is diminished to the point of poverty of freedom, expression, and material possession.
