Sen. James Webb (D-Va.) has announced that he will not run for reelection in 2012.
Webb's decision, long anticipated by many in Virginia politics, will make his seat more difficult to hold for his party. Ex-Sen. George Allen (R), who lost the seat in 2006 to Webb, is running to win it back, and a handful of other GOP candidates are also running. Some Democrats hope ex-Gov. Tim Kaine will decide to run for the seat, but he has given no indication yet that he is interested.

Macaca!
I think I’d call this one a likely GOP pick up with a halfway decent candidate.
Another One Bites The Dust.

Yipee!!!
We did it! We did it!
The weasle is scared.
Va. and Fl. are pickups for sure. If it will do any good?
Wow! This huge! Although now I expect Jim to vote his conscience and vote along with Harry Reid and the libs on major issues!
Good-bye, Born Idiot. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving Rat.

Good News
Not surprising. Webb ran because he opposed the Iraq War, and wanted to help stop it.
That issue is gone, and while he has opinions on other issues, I don’t think he really cares all that much about them — and on some of those issues, he really is more on the republican side of those issues.
It will be interesting to see who takes the republican primary on this one — it’s not really wide open for George Allen, there are several conservatives thinking about this race.
This is great news, all the way around. Now to just find someone who can hold the line for us. I may not live in VA now, but my heart will always be in the Old Dominion.
Buh-Bye, hope the door don’t hit ya on the way out. This essentially means he thinks he could not have held onto the seat.
He pretty much voted/votes that way already. He just pretended to be a “moderate”.
Handwriting meets Wall.
I hope there’s a primary..it’s good for the party to have candidates debate, and get hard questions on the issues, and prove their conservative creds and values..I don’t think that Allen is a shoo-in..why should we have to listen to that macaca stuff for the whole campaign...the head of the VA TP has announced ( I forget her name) and I think that if the Va Atty general gets it..he’d win..
This is a major development. I think that Virginians got tired of Jim Webb and he knew it. It’s also possible that Webb just doesn’t like being a U.S. Senator.
Is there anyone other than that jock doofus George Allen? Can we draft Mark Levin to run?
