Several sources familiar with the ongoing investigation tell WTOP fire and police investigators believe the radiator in Turton's 2008 BMW X5 was punctured when it rolled into a workbench. The halogen headlights, which emit a bluish light and illuminate the road better than conventional headlights, stayed on after the radiator was punctured.

Except the 2008 BMX X5 has sealed HALOGEN bulbs.
Those lights are ridiculous and a hazard. DOT is run by complete morons.
Most of the fire was contained to the garage area.
A source familiar with the investigation tells WTOP the accident was likely a slow-speed collision. There were no skid marks.
It is still unclear how fire started, but a neighbor says the car caught fire while backing out of the driveway behind the house.
Neighbors say Turton, 37, was leaving for an early morning flight at the time of the accident.
Other people were in the home at the time, the source says. Given the configuration of the house and garage, they may not have been aware of the incident.
So how does a car backing out hit a workbench which somehow punctures the headlights causing a fatal fire, while leaving the victim unable to a) call for help and b) unable to get out of the car? Just asking...
Of course back in the Clinton era we had an uninterrupted string of mysterious deaths. I’ve been a bit surprised that this has not really happened (to my knowledge) under the Baraqqi regime.
Maybe it’s just starting to unfold.

I think (and I'm too lazy to look it up), the technology was pioneered by GM and offered as an option on Cadillacs some years ago. It was dropped b/c of cost and lack of demand. It's currently available on several high-end Euro and Japanese cars. Like BMW.
But no, this doesn't fit with the current GM focus -- such as the "Big Brother" event recorders included in each GM car.
it gets a flammable label if the flash point is below 73F. With a flash point of 240, it would be “combustible”.
You can burn ethylene glycol, the main ingredient in most antifreeze. Some of those under-the-chafing-dish things are not Sterno but EtGlycol with a wick.
Jet A has a flash point of 100F, corn oil about 450F (don’t try to cook french fries in jet A, is what that means).
So ethylene glycol is more flammable than cooking oil and much less flammable than jet fuel or kerosene.
IIRC, she was on her way to the airport and the rest of the family was asleep. I would assume one of the first things the fire department would do would get anyone out of the house.
I can understand her husband saying everyone was accounted for as a first response while in a fog trying to process what was going on.
But once the adrenalin started flowing, if someone mentioned the SUV IN the garage he should have known immediately something wasn’t right. If her car was in the garage, where was she?
Are you sure she was using that kind? Some greenies use other types.

Amazing, isn’t it. Authorities were able to link Jack Wheeler with the ‘arson’ across the street almost immediately and yet, no one can begin to explain this fire.
Of course, if foul play was suspected (ie no smoke in lungs) the DC authorities might be playing a game of cat & mouse.

They may not have been aware of the incident, but “they” could hardly have slept through fire engines wailing as they approached the fire.
The engines must have gotten there in record time because those ancient wooden porches do not even look scorched. Even if they were modern iron reproductions, they totally escaped damage.
Perhaps people who live near the Capitol are immune from noticing sirens, since so many daily motorcades are preceded by them - but not at 5am.
