Several sources familiar with the ongoing investigation tell WTOP fire and police investigators believe the radiator in Turton's 2008 BMW X5 was punctured when it rolled into a workbench. The halogen headlights, which emit a bluish light and illuminate the road better than conventional headlights, stayed on after the radiator was punctured.

Even if the story above was plausible, it would never happen. If they recalled halogen automobile lamps, could the household ones be far behind? Thar would mean a return to incandescent.
240 degrees F is NOT “far above” the boiling point of water, which is 212 dgrees F.
And I can tell you with certainty that ethylne glycol based antifreeze does NOT catch fire at 240 degrees F.
I have accidently dumped it on the hot exhaust manifold of a running car and all it did was HISS very loudly as it turned to steam (brake fluid, on the other hand...).
It is possible automotive antifreeze might ignite if undiluted product was squirted from a nozzle, as atomized spray, directly in to an open flame, but that would not have happened in this case without some help.
These people are full of shiite.
Not to mention that her BMW doesn’t even have halogen headlights...
To someone who has been driving for 40 years they are. And they still suck.
“As one who grew up in that area”
I’m still here! Dadgumit!
Yes, that must be it
Center Fuel Tank Malfunction
Caused the car to burn
I agree with you on that remark, especially when they top a hill. I really hate the drivers who are too busy or forget to hit the low beams for oncoming traffic. The high beams even blind you during daytime hours.
I have worked with antifreeze for many years and have never known any to catch fire. But, what the hell, this is as good as the center fuel tank explosion on flight 800. The fire at Mt. Carmel. Vince Foster’s suicide of any other explanation that the Government comes up with.
‘It could not possibly have happened the way they say. Unless a pit bull was driving.”
What does Arianna Huffington have to do with this story?

Her family also has been dealing with a brother, Blair Westbrook, who suffered severe brain injury last summer in a motorcycle accident.
Brian Wolff, a close friend, said he spoke Sunday with Turton about how her brothers therapy was being cut off. I was telling her we should set up a foundation, said Wolff, a senior vice president at the Edison Electric Institute and a former top political House Democratic adviser to Pelosi.
mm mmm mmmm
as in
murder mmurder mmmurdered
Side point about her brother:
Only a lib with a high six figure income, would think that someone else should pay for her own brother’s medical needs that are “being cut off.”
Can’t you just drive in reverse after dark?
Excellent idea! They seriously tick me off as well. I am going to start doing what you do!
No doubt about that. Another elitist commie.
I’m not buying that for a minute.
Oh yeah, they work great! Nevermind that drivers in oncoming lanes need sunglasses at night to deal with them! LoL.

It would be more believable if they just said the car was struck by a meteor.
