President Obama will offer three plans to phase out the troubled home lending agencies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, an administration official said Tuesday night.
The plans range from a full government guarantee of the housing market to removing nearly all federal backstops for housing loans, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The plans were first reported Tuesday night by The Wall Street Journal.

Amen! Stop having the FedGov back mortgages.
When companies don't feel the pain of their risk taking, they will take lots of foolish risks.

If its not their money, their paycheck, their bonus, their pension... they don’t care about taking risks.

Obama has never managed so much as a fruit stand and now he's going to dismantle the entire mortgage industry! Wow! Get me a front row seat!

When individuals do have the pain of saving and being responsible day-in, day-out for their adult lifetimes, they might cease behaving foolishly.

0'Government buys all the houses.
You pick up a set of keys at the Post Office.
You wonder about the country until you find the house that fits your keys.
You live happily ever after, until it takes your keys next year!

Absolutely!
My husband and I purposefully chose a modest house because we didn't want the other to struggle if something happened to one of us.
The "I've got to have it now" attitude is too much for me to take lately, especially when my tax dollars are footing the bill!

Too many jackrabbits these days- the turtle used to win the race. At least that’s the story my mom read to me when I was a little kid.

That’s a pretty radical concept. Everyone but the fed has to live by it.
What hacks me off is that I can see printing money if the entire Western Hemisphere or more is in danger, like in WWII. These clowns have lived like this in the best of times...

They were private until Dubya decided that taxpayers should save them from going bankrupt.
