Since her husband was elected, First Lady Michelle Obama has been on a mission to curb the obesity epidemic in America. Her "Let's Move!" anti-obesity campaign is celebrating its one-year anniversary this week.
Mrs. Obama has pushed for healthier school lunches for children, easier-to-understand nutrition labels on food packages, and now she is taking on the restaurant industry.
According to a New York Times report on Sunday, Mrs. Obama has a team of advisers in talks with the National Restaurant Association in an effort to get eateries to serve smaller portions and healthier children's meals.
The food industry will change when consumers change what they want, and shes worked hard to help us look at food differently. Long term, thats whats important," Dr. David Kessler, a former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, told The NY Times.
But some argue Mrs. Obama's methodology is too heavy-handed.
Brad Blakeman, former deputy assistant for George W. Bush, said in an interview on Fox News it should not be up to the government to decide what we eat.
"Education is important in good health for our people and we should do that but we shouldnt do it with the heavy-handed approach the First Lady is doing where shes influencing our economy by telling the restaurant association what she would like to see done," said Blakeman.

I can still remember when Hershey Bars went from a Nickel to a Dime and they got smaller at the same time.
How come the Federal Government has not learned from the Hershey Model?
More money less government?
Ever since Lady Bird Johnson a first lady’s historical significance is measured by the amount of taxpayer’s dollars she can command to pour out on her pet projects.
She should consider asking them for bigger chairs, too.
Smaller portions in restaurants for us peons and huge portions of fat, sugar and salt laden foods for the denizens of the White House. Hey Michelle, can you say, ‘let them eat cake’?
I’m getting sick and tired of busy body first ladies. Why oh why must they always have to have a cause? Doesn’t she have a couple of small kids who need at least one parent to raise them?
The giant butt wookie wants to make sure there is more food for herself.
“Don’t chall be eatin’ all my food now”
Are there words for this witch other than 4-letter ones?
So, less for our buck. My husband laughs at me, because I am known for cutting my meals at restaurants exactly in half, then taking the leftovers home. But, we know I really couldn’t possibly do that, since that would require thinking for myself, and I couldn’t possibly do that without the government helping with that.
First Lady Michelle Obama...can kiss my lily-white ass.
I will eat what portions I want to. And someday, when I open my restaurant, I will make an option to “Michelle-O-Size” any portion...which will DOUBLE it!!!
Take that, you Bigfoot-lookin’ meddler!
Jeez, hasn't this bimbo ever heard of 'doggie bags'?
