It was only weeks ago that Keith Olbermann abruptly announced his departure from MSNBC's 'Countdown,' but it looks like the opinionated host might have already lined up his next television home.
According to the NY Times, Olbermann will announce Tuesday his plans to work with Current TV, a public affairs channel founded by Al Gore and other independent backers.
Sources claim Olbermann would have an equity stake in Current TV, and a public relations agency hired by the host has already scheduled a Tuesday morning call for "an exciting announcement regarding the next chapter in (Olbermann's) remarkable career."
Olbermann's new network has set up a presentation for advertisers this Wednesday to announce its future plans. Adding a top-rated host with network experience might be what Current TV needs to become a part of mainstream cable. The network is targeted at young people and while it has recently begun producing more traditional television series, it's largely comprised of YouTube-style submissions and is only available in only about 60 million homes and usually not as a part of basic cable.
Since his departure from 'Countdown,' Olbermann has kept in touch with his fan base through his Twitter account. Two days before the official announcement, the Internet domain name TheOlbermannShow.com was registered, leading many to believe the liberal host already had his next gig in the works.

Current? Is that the channel right above Bloomberg that shows Rotten Tomatoes and The Onion? How fitting.
Dish Network sees to it that I get the Barbie Channel.....
Is “Current” like that?

TRANSLATION:
Wealthy and savvy enough to have hired a decent PR firm to have done a “grey” source job on his last-ditch effort at staying on the air, Olbermann succeeded in making his downward-move seem nearly “exciting.” He will naturally endure a major pay cut in this move to a network which is almost entirely devoid of advertisers or listeners; remuneration will therefore include a worthless stock / equity package.
This is such old news in the communications world...we knew this was going on the day after he got canned.
Anyway, viewership of Current IS is available in 30 million homes nationwide in the US, with plans underway for several international versions.
In late 2009, after the announcement of the Comcast-NBC merger, Comcast Corporation submitted a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission that revealed it owns a ten percent stake of Current Media LLC.
Currants are basically like raisins, so it fits: shriveled up shells of themleves.
Gore & Olbermann. A fitting combo.
The only thing "remarkable" about this deranged ass-monkey's "carreer" is that he even has one at all. He belongs in a straight jacklet--complete with a Hannibal Lechter-style "mouth grill"--in a padded cell on a continuous IV Thorazine drip.
I hope the whole Gore TV thing collapses financially, leaving Geek Odorman with a big "zilch" as a most fitting epitaph on his "remarkable carreer."
He's one of a handful of people whom I could hand his trachea as he slides to the floor, and sleep like a baby that night. Weird, huh?
8^D
Sort of like Leopold and Loeb.

Current TV is adopting the Air America business model.
“with plans underway for several international versions.”
Maybe a joint venture with Al Jazeera, yes?
Artfully translated, my good man.
re: “According to the NY Times, Olbermann will announce Tuesday his plans to work with Current TV”
Thus his career has now completely disappeared down the toilet.
History is filled with tiny brained self proclaimed intellectuals like Olderdouche who are just plain f@kin nuts.
I'm curious about the term "grey" source, and I wondered what you meant by it. I can't find it using Google. Do you mean, a semi-legitimate employer like, like Current TV, that will hire him as a face-saving gesture?
He will naturally endure a major pay cut...
It looks to me as if he'll actually have to pay to be on the air there.
LOL... have they looked at the history of liberal radio ???
“Adding a top-rated host”
LOL
