Longtime Rep. Jane Harman of California is quitting Congress to lead the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Fox News has learned.
Two senior House Democratic officials confirmed that Harman has informed Democratic leaders, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., of her plans to retire.
The Wilson Center, whose current head is former Rep. Lee Hamilton, D-Ind., is expected to announce Harman's new gig Tuesday. The Woodrow Wilson Center would not speak to specifics about Harman but Sharon Coleman McCarter, vice president of outreach and communications, said the board is meeting Tuesday and "will make an announcement on our new president."

This could only be happening if the dems are getting vibes that 2012 will be another wipeout.
Harman would not be leaving if she had a chance to be in the majority again.

She was nothing of the kind. She got security issue and sided with my president, Bush (43), on them.
The smears about her with the Rosen case -- a case that never went to trial btw... -- was merely an attempt to stoke anti-Semitism to frighten AIPAC into forcing concessions on Israel.

Democratic leaders Nothing "democratic" about the RATS. They don't own their individual votes.

I admired Jane Harman for her serious work on national security. She should have headed the committee, but Miss Nancy yanked her. That should prove Jane’s quality on that issue.
Now, when will Jane’s husband start improving Newsweak?

Oh please. Harman has been in the House for 20 yrs - that's not a quitter, unlike a certain half-term governor. At age 65, she's just deciding to move on to a think-tank and out of political office. Unfortunately for her constituents, this opportunity didn't come before the regular election cycle so it'll cost her district. She was often targeted for being too "right-wing" or as a "DINO."
You're right about her wealth. With over $160 million in assets, she's the 2nd richest member of the House behind Darrell Issa (R).
