Wisner: Mubarak 'must stay'

Frank Wisner, a former ambassador to Egypt who was sent to Cairo earlier this week by President Obama meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, said Mubarak “must stay in office” to guide his country through important transitions in the coming months.

“You need to get a national consensus around the pre-conditions for the next step forward,” Wisner told the Munich Security Conference on Saturday. “The president must stay in office in order to steer those changes through.”

Wisner said he considered Mubarak’s continued leadership in his country “critical.”

Obama is so stupid he will say that Merkel and Cameron were also not authorized to talk!!!!

From WSJ-—
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron, also in attendance, supported Egyptians’ demand for reform but stopped short of calling for President Hosni Mubarak to step down immediately.

“I don’t think we in the West should be the ones to point fingers and say it’s this leader or that leader who has to go now or start now,” Mr. Cameron said. “We should say that we back countries that are putting in place the building blocks of civil society, and that’s exactly what we’re doing in Egypt.”

Ms. Merkel urged a “peaceful and orderly” transition in Egypt, even at the cost of delaying elections while civil institutions capable of supporting a new government are put in place.

“I think it would be wrong to hold a very quick election as the beginning of a democratization process,” Ms. Merkel said. “We have to give the people the chance to build the corresponding structures.”

There is still some sanity left in the world.

That makes more sense than anything I have ever heard come out of Obama’s mouth in the last two years.

So, Obama was just practicing his technique on GM and Chrysler when he told their top brass they were done.

Now he wants to add Egypt to his collection.

Why hasn’t someone with some guts and common sense stood up and asked him who the hell he thinks he is?
Ordering the president of Egypt to step down? What arrogance!

With all this responsibility when will he find time to play some hoops?

President of Chrysler
President of GM
Resident of the White House
Phaoroh of Egypt

Obongo’s schemes are being thwarted. Even Chris Matthews was appalled at how quick Obongo dumped a long time ally of the United States

Obambi was out there last week saying that Mubarak had to leave "now" and "now means yesterday."

Since then he's been alternately associated and disassociating himself with the "now means yesterday" departure of Mubarak. As usual, Obama tries to have it every which way, which is a terrible trait in a U.S. President.

Obama did point fingers and raise his voice in demanding Mubarak leave immediately (”now means yesterday”).

I believe there is video to prove this.

I know Mubarack isn’t noted as a “nice guy”, but I have to credit him for some level of patriotism for refusing to leave and let these others take over. He’s most likely going to die by doing so, but he’s doing it anyway.
