The attacks on journalists covering the protests in Egypt have escalated, with reports Fox News correspondent Greg Palkot and his photographer Olaf Wiig have been severely beaten in an attack in Cairo. Fox News anchor John Roberts described the attack today, saying Palkot and Wiig were left with “fairly grave” injuries but have now been released from the hospital.
Palkot, who’s been in the center of the protests in Cairo for days, became cornered by pro-government forces, according to Roberts:
They were forced to leave their position when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at it, a large fire erupted. They were forced to flee. They ran out and ran right into the pro Mubarak crowd and were severely beaten and had to be taken to the hospital, spent the night in the hospital. The extent of their injuries was fairly grave, however, they have been released from the hospital.
Just listen to basically everyone except Glenn Beck and you will see the pattern.
The news broadcasts are out of my reach — they were the most egregious. Here are some tamer print examples of how the folks at Fox were fooled...

Palkot seems old school and credible. I hope he and all the others will be OK until they can get out of there. Even Perky and Ahm-a-mahn-in-drag.
And where the hell is Ashley Banfield? She looked good in those glasses. And whatever happened to the Scud Stud? Enquiring minds are waiting in line at the grocery to find out.

I thought the same....maybe the hospital was not a safe place for them to be and/or hospital staff were afraid that they would draw trouble.
There have been about 850 journalists killed doing their job in the past twenty years, over forty in 2010. That’s an awful lot considering the fact that the business is fairly small.
