Jim DeMint is well-positioned to win the presidential primary in his home state of South Carolina but Mike Huckabee is poised to capitalize if DeMint stays out of the race.
With DeMint in the race, the conservative senator captures 24 percent of the vote, according to a new Public Policy Polling survey, with Huckabee trailing at 20 percent. But with DeMint out of the picture, Huckabee leads with 26 percent of the vote, followed by Mitt Romney at 20 percent.

Demint!
so Huck is going to win so he can have a national health care plan and give amnesty to the wet backs????
no thanx
Huck? Gag.
If I wanted a welfare-theocrat, I’d vote for the Shas party in Israel.
Ping!
Every two years before an Presidential election, folks on both sides of the aisle hyperventilate on early polling data which never predicted any actual outcome on the primaries or general election - some here on FR feed and live off of these polls and there is nothing you can do to convince them otherwise!
Look at Huckabee, He is leading in a lot of polls but no one is pouring money into his PAC to support him - How can that be? Wouldnt more people who favor him as the nominee be more likely to give money for his cause? No, his name is a placeholder for many people who may havent engaged in the process of seriously looking over candidates yet
When is Demint’s term up ?
How does South Carolina appoint replacement senators ?
Praps I shouldn’t worry with Nikki in charge.
Please Jim Run !
DeMint won’t run so all this means is that Big Government Huckabee is leading in two of the three early contests. Something had better change between now and the elections because if Huckabee gains enough momentum by winning Iowa and SC, I won’t be voting Republican for president in the next election.
Did Huck talk about how he would give more cop killers parole, so they could go on to kill more cops and rape more children?

Huckabee is a terrible fundraiser. I think he raised like three million in the fourth quarter of 2007.
We love taking advice from liberals
It works out so well. Like McCain
DeMint just won reelection, so his term expires in 2016 (and he has stated he will not seek another term).

Those are the two sides to the 2012 GOP coin.
There is no other possibility.
If Huck was actually a favorite of a plurality of Republicans then you would see some bounce in people giving to money to him! Some people including on FR are being played without understanding the historical meaningless of early polling——until people actually run a campaign there will be no consensus in who is the best
What idiots are voting for Huckabee!
Really? Because Ron Paul was the top fundraiser in the fourth quarter of 2007: the quarter right before Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina; and it didn't go so well for Paul.
This Palin supporter won’t vote for a man that turned his back on the call to preach, and went from trying to save souls to trying to win votes.
Won’t vote for Newt, Huck, or Mitt to name a few.
I can always write in.
I would love to vote for Palin, Bachmann, or Demint. I could tolerate some others.
