He may very well BE worried about that. But what can he do? He’s between Iraq and a hard place. *rimshot*

(AINA) — News of a massacre of two Christian Coptic families by Islamists just emerged from Upper Egypt with the return of the Internet connections after a week of Internet blackout by the Egyptian regime. The massacre took place on Sunday, January 30 at 3 PM in the village of Sharona near Maghagha, Minya province. Two Islamists groups, aided by the Muslim neighbors, descended on the roof of houses owned by Copts, killing eleven Copts, including children, and seriously injuring four others.

1119: BBC’s Lyse Doucet tweets: “Large crowds still streaming into Tahrir Square but police now blocking some approaches to stop people #jan25 #egypt”

1109: Samar M Samy in Mansoura, says: “The atmosphere is very tense. There was a lot of violence in the local square. There are food shortages and most of the supermarkets are out of supplies. The local farmers can’t tend to their farms. Seventy thousand of the country’s most dangerous criminals have been let loose so all young men are watching guard over their property. My dad has been threatened by thugs and my whole family is staying in because things have got very violent. Everyone is really irked at the governments poorly disguised officials whipping and beating its own people. We all feel like we are in some sort of twisted civil war - the ruling elite against the people. Everyone is scared about what might happen tomorrow. Many say they are willing to die, if that’s what it takes for Mubarak to leave.”

On BBC I just saw what looked like a platoon size group of soldiers getting out of an army transport vehicle on Cairo. This is the first time I’ve seen soldiers on foot other than stationed in front of the museum.

I’ve seen it all, they are interviewing a guy in the square with a saucepan strapped on his head with a piece of pink string.

It would be so comical if it was not so serious but i did have to laugh.

I think today they may try to bulldoze those barricades.

I saw some images of some tanks with blades.

Well, here's my latest beef with the reportage: This morning I've been hearing how sure the journos are that it's the pro-gov't guys with the weapons and doing the wailing on the journos.

As for the attacks on the journos, do the reporters getting attacked personally know their attackers? If not, have the reporters ID'd the perps some other way? If so, then come out and state how you can attribute ID and motivation. If not, then used the word ALLEGED.

As for the guys with the guns being pro-gov't because of Egypt's strict gun contol laws, then I'd ask if there's no organized crime in Egypt? No terrorism, no smuggling? If the gov't's supposedly the ONLY source for those weapons, I'll need to see/hear how other sources were ruled out. And on the guys in black sedans who were handing out the weapons, how were those cars ID'd as being gov't issue? Did someone get the plate numbers and run them? Was someone able to ID any of the guys in the cars? If not, then used the word ALLEGED.

This is not rocket science. And slinging unsubstantiated accusations in a situation like this is not only dumb, but dangerous for everyone involved.

From what I’ve read it may be there’s a fracture in the military. I don’t think Mubarak’s strategy worked too well yesterday- the images being broadcast across the world show him in a very unfavorable light- he was just as unprepared for this as the US government.

I agree. They were reporting their opinions as fact, as usual. I’d wager that the horse and camel jockeys were MB based on the headgear.

The coverage is utterly biased. I’m pretty sure some of these thugs ARE Mubarak thugs- but given the nature of propaganda- I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts there are also some MB and/or Hamas agitators in the mix.
