Mitt Romney became, on Tuesday, the first of the potential 2012 GOP presidential contenders to call for the exit of Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak.
Speaking on ABC's "Good Morning America," Romney said although President Obama should not publicly support Mubarak's removal, the time for it had come.
"I don't know that I would say to the president, 'You should call for Mubarak's resignation,' " Romney said. "That, I think, flies in the face of a long history of friendship between he and our country and our friends, but it is very clear that [Mubarak] needs to move on and transition to the voices of democracy."
Romney largely praised the administration's response to the crisis, aligning himself with Republican leaders in Congress who favor a unified approach to the unrest in Egypt. Other potential candidates, such as Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee, have been more alarmist...

Mitt Romney just proved he does not have the intellectual or political chops to assess the true status of the middle east.
He is not fit for the White House.
(As if we didn’t know this already.)
Go away Mitt. You are much worse than useless. Your stated position on Egypt is dangerous.
(And take McCain with you. You two are RINO twins.)
‘Going Palin’ - I just meant he came out with a statement. Folks had chided him for not saying anything before. Now, he is trying to ‘act presidential’ and throw in his 2 cents. I don’t think he is reacting to Egypt, but to Palin.
Since the Muslim Brotherhood and their stooges like El Baradei want war with Israel and the destruction of the West, I guess Romney is saying he’s OK with that.
What an idiot.
Yeah, that makes us nostalgic.
Go away, Mitt.
Heh. This will boomerang for sure.
‘Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open the mouth and remove all doubt.
Will this self deluded fool just go away?
Please?
Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood was created by Hassan al-Bannan in 1928 as an Arab extension of Hitler’s Nazi party. The Muslim Brotherhood survived Hitler and went on to form the Mujaheddin (with help from the CIA) which fought the Soviets in Afghanistan and, later, turned on America and formed...drum roll please....al Quaeda. The Muslim Brotherhood is, therefore, the creator of al Quaeda.
Romney largely praised the administration's response to the crisis, aligning himself with Republican leaders in Congress who favor a unified approach to the unrest in Egypt.
And Jordan? Clearly the Muslim Brotherhood has a unified approach that includes Jordan.
it is very clear that [Mubarak] needs to move on and transition to the voices of democracy.
Has he found any of those, or is he listening to too much CNN?
Has he noticed that the Brotherhood hasn't even taken power yet, and they are already calling for war with Israel?
He doesn’t think it’s the “Mormon Brotherhood”.
He doesn’t think, period. I wish he’d just go away and hang with his gay marriage buddies, or the abortion providers he likes, or the lucky folks in Massachusetts who are currently suffering under Romney care.
He’s just flipping around in the wind looking for anything that might make him look slightly presidental. Unfortunately he wouldn’t make a good leadman on an SEIU janitorial crew, let alone president of anything.
Thank God almighty! Here I’ve been sitting on pins and needles for days waiting to see which way Romney would go,...now I can sleep at night in the full knowledge that this mormon POS has slit his own throat!
Mitt is an idiot.
LOL - Hilarious and spot on.
Mitt the twit!
Romney ought to keep his mitts off foreign policy.
He's an idiot.
Just another Dole, Kerry, McCain, Biden, Hatch clone.........
I wonder how many focus groups he had to go through before he finally determined what his opinion is?
