GOVERNOR SUSANA MARTINEZ RESCINDS NEW MEXICO SANCTUARY STATUS
NM Office of the Governor ^ | January 31, 2011 | Office of the Governor

Posted on 01/31/2011 9:35:53 PM PST by CedarDave

SANTA FE – Governor Susana Martinez announced today that she has signed an executive order rescinding sanctuary status for illegal immigrants who commit crimes in New Mexico while protecting victims and witnesses of criminal acts. The order signed by Governor Martinez directs law enforcement officers to inquire about the immigration status of those who are arrested for committing crimes.

“This order takes the handcuffs off of New Mexico’s law enforcement officers in their mission to keep our communities safe,” said Governor Martinez. “The criminal justice system should have the authority to determine the immigration status of all criminals, regardless of race or ethnicity, and report illegal immigrants who commit crimes to federal authorities. Meanwhile, it is important that we safeguard the ability of victims and witnesses to report crimes to law enforcement officers without fear of repercussion.”

Santa Fe gets what it deserves then.

No doubt! The libs in Fanta Se need to choke on their policies until they get the picture.

The way they talk, behave, look away or run from the police are actions, not appearances.

Those are appearances. Those are things you see. You forgot 'how they dress' too.

You are very welcome.

I can’t tell from what countries foreigners are from. I don’t need to listen to them speak to know they are not from Panama. All I can tell you from their outward appearance is they are not Panamanians...and Panamanians, like Americans, come in all colors...from white to black.

Someone send this to those open borders RINO douchebags Gingrich and Jeb Bush.

--------------------------

Newt Gingrich is demanding that the Bush administration get serious about stopping illegal immigration.

The former House speaker wants the United States to completely seal off its border along Mexico and Canada, deport illegal aliens within 72 hours of their arrest and exclude U.S. courts from reviewing such deportations.

“Let’s be serious about sealing off our borders or [else] have open borders,” Mr. Gingrich told more than 1,000 cheering conservatives on Saturday.

“It’s a complete misreading of the 14th Amendment” to the Constitution to think that illegal aliens are entitled to the same rights as U.S. citizens, he said on the closing day of the 32nd annual Conservative Political Action Conference.

He hit all the right notes for activists at a conference where immigration proved to be the hottest issue — in speeches, panel discussions and hallway talk.

Legal immigrants, he said, should “have to learn about American history to pass a citizenship test, and they should have to pass it in English.”

So is this yet another woman doing the work the men in power won’t do?

“The way they talk, behave, look away or run from the police are actions, not appearances.”

Semantics, really, I think.

The illegal “appears” illegal because of the way he behaves, looks away, runs away, etc. . . ergo, “appearance” doesn’t just mean physical description only. (I.E.: “Your Honor, the illegal appeared to act suspiciously. . . “

And then you will be asked by the judge, “Did he appear to act suspiciously, or did he act suspiciously?”

‘Appeared’ can also be an indicator of not-100%-surety as in “He appeared to be 5ft 8in tall.”
The only way to confirm, or disprove, that that person is 5’8” {+/- say .5 in} is to actually measure them and see what the reality is.

“Republican men have been effectively silenced by our nations moderators.”

You think that Republican women such as Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann haven’t been attacked as often and as much as Republican men have been?

The women are leading the charge. All the men have to do is fall in line behind them, and back them up.

That’s not a hard job.

You are flying the NJ flag on your home page. BTW, my roots are in Ireland, too.

Even though I don’t want your Governor to run for President, he is a real man and I love what he’s doing in your state!

Nobody refers to them as “old white women” or such; the lack of a penis somehow gives any woman’s input more weight than a man’s in today politically correct culture. The 2008 election cycle was a real dilemna for the left, as they supported an “all-male” ticket against a mixed one. Race trumped gender, and Palin’s pro-life stance certainly didn’t help her in terms of the media.

The white male vote is no longer up for grabs; since they are solidly in the Repub camp after a brief post-Clinton dabbling with the Kenyan Pirate (more out of desperation than anything else), they have been written out of any national debate on anything. Because the women’s vote is in play (particularly the white women), the political figures have to handle them with kid gloves while Jon Stewart and Saturday Night Live do their dirty work for them on Repub women.

No Dem politicians have been as brutal with either of those women as they were with GWB; there is too much risk for them in that.

Erin Go Bragh!

Governor Christie isn’t perfect, but he has the socialists on the run here. We haven’t had a governor actually represent taxpayers in this state in my lifetime; he knows we are headed to oblivion without some harsh reality checks. Somehow his Dem predecessor was given a pass when he started furloughing state workers (very soon after 99% of them had voted for him); Christie’s cuts are reaching down to the municipal level in an incredible way. Neighboring states beware: there is a slew of unemployed public servants coming your way from NJ; don’t let them do to your state what they did to ours, and don’t let your voters be deceived into supporting them.

No matter how much he is slammed by our socialist media, I think he has a great chance at re-election because he is immensely popular with the taxpayers. We are lucky they still outweigh the combined permanent underclass and civil servants in terms of numbers at the polls on Election Day.

uggus Airun guh brockh kree-ool gwitch fresh-in!

Does that make any sense to you?

I was so fortunate to be able to visit Dublin, and take a day trip to Belfast. What a beautiful country! Taking the trip to Belfast on the train was outstanding, as I got to see the countryside...and the oldest stone fences I’ve ever seen. It was a fantastic trip, and one that I will never forget. That’s where my family is from...and I have great affection for Ireland.

Governor Christie is right where he should be now. He’s doing a fantastic job straightening out your state.

Spreading the word...

No, I don’t understand that!

One of my brothers was in Belfast decades ago; he was shocked at how crappy the Catholic neighborhoods were. Thankfully that has changed a lot for the better; both sides realize they’re stuck together, and seem to be making the best of it. While the economy isn’t doing well now, Ireland today is fortunate that industrialization passed it by years ago; they’re looking at cleaner jobs that will preserve the countryside much better.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. The executive order will only apply to State Police enforcement officers.

You’re right...things are better for both sides.

I saw a Catholic school that had formerly had the windows fitted with irons. The irons were gone when I was there.

That, to me, was symbolic of everything else I saw during my visit.

I hope they can raise a generation of kids who haven’t witnessed any violence. If they can do that, they will be okay.
