Jon M. Huntsman Jr., the U.S. ambassador to China, sent a resignation letter to President Barack Obama on Monday and now is likely to explore a Republican presidential bid, a close associate told POLITICO.

In a letter hand-delivered to the White House, the former Utah governor said that he wants to return to the United States by May, the associate said. The letter thanks Obama for the opportunity to serve the country and praises the U.S. embassy staff in Beijing.

Beck seemed impressed with him.

Beck and Huntsman Sr are best buds. I remember an episode a few years back where Beck gave an honest assessment of Jr and was forced to apologize to keep his relationship with Sr going. I wouldn't trust Beck on this either way.

Yes, yes, yes—split the RINO vote! (And consolidate the conservative vote behind Gov. Palin.)

So tell me...how are those agreements going with China, Vietnam, West Africa, Taiwan, etc?

You are posting stuff from who knows where..but not giving us facts.

Hell....I negotiated with 20 people over the last 3 days...to take their treatments, eat their food, sit up, walk, deep breath..etc.....Ask me how they went?

What a sweet little boy he is. Returned missionary from China, son of a Utah billionaire, no substance, a certain light in the loafers style and for sure not able to recognize his own weaknesses. Typical liberal idiot.

And he’s from Utah? LOL

He was US Trade representative under George H W Bush specializing in asia. Trade seemed fine back then.

Which candidate are you backing who has more trade experience?

Add another Rino to the list of thousands. Too damn bad we don’t have even one conservative on the list.

China seems too important a contact for the Marxist in Chief to trust to a Republican just to get him “out of the way.” They must have some world vision in common.

And I will reserve final judgment until I learn more. But he starts out with some marks against him. He seems to be a marxist-lite RINO to me based on what I’ve read so far...

He could have stayed as governor and not accepted the position, He is tainted with crossing over to the dark side, whether it’s right or wrong to think so. Many voters in the primary will just get to know him for the first time and being on Obama’s Adminstration will raise flags on how much do they trust him.

I was reading the comments on the Deseret news and some seemed to think he may run for Senate (Hatch) instead. It was pointed out that he recently bought a home in DC. Why would he need that if he ends up President?

Romney is already in and has a big head start for the same voter block.
