Barack Obama braces for Jon Huntsman 2012 bid

The White House expects Jon Huntsman, the U.S. Ambassador to China, to resign his post this spring to explore a bid for the Republican presidential nomination, top Democrats said.

GOP allies of Huntsman have already begun laying plans for a quick-start campaign should the former Utah governor decide to enter the ill-defined Republican field.

Huntsman has avoided publicly discussing the possibility of a bid against the president who appointed him, but he’s sending signals that make clear he’s serious about a run now – not in 2016, when many top officials in both the GOP and the White House assumed he’d run

As someone in St. George, UT, I can safely tell you that this is the funniest thing I will read all week....and it’s only Monday. LOL

It would take a miracle for Huntsman to be reelected governor here, despite the massive amount of goodwill toward his dad.

LMAO

If Huntsman is seriously considering a run, Romney must be seriously considering taking a pass. Anyone who knows Utah and the tight-knit Morman community centered there knows that there won't be two LDS candidates in one national race.

In any case, Huntsman is a nonstarter. Like Romney, he is fundamentally in accord with Obama’s progressive world view. He can't win a Republican nomination, if he could he couldn't beat Obama and even if he did manage to move into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave he would do nothing to deflect us from our disastrously progressive course. If the 2012 election is our progressive against their progressive, we should all hope that their progressive wins. We don't need the guilt by association. Better for all concerned if Huntsman stays in China and Romney retires.

I wonder if they're playing Huntsman to go third party?

I definitely see a 3rd party candidate getting in the running to pull some of the vote away from the Republican candidate to assist in an Obama second term.

Huntsman or Romney...

Both are RINOs..

The WH would just love to have either of them in the GOP slot

RICH, WHITE RINO’s to be compared against the non-pale community organizer. No thanks.

The WH also knows that most Evangelicals won’t vote for a Mormon.

Huckabee isn’t running? For sure? Or is he just being coy. I was so sure he would run.

Romney is definitely running. One of his henchmen was on Fox News this morning discussing the debt ceiling. Guy looked just like Romney. Maybe he could be a stunt double.

Huntsman has about as much name recognition as my dog.

Way too late for him to establish himself.

I never heard of him until this thing came up about his resigning from Obamaville and running.

Let's sum up who the endemedia are pushing hardest:

  1. Romney-- he can raise money but not votes. And while the Massachusetts health care train-wreck is not quite as bad as ObamaCare, not even the best tap dancing around the issue is going to convince the public of the differences.
  2. Huckabee-- he can raise votes but not money. Jimmy Swaggart and Elmer Gantry had their days. And Huck has had his.
  3. Rudy Guilani-- thanks to the enemedia, the America who was once impressed with Rudy's handling of the 9-11 aftermath has largely forgotten about 9-11. He'd not even in also-ran status of the previously two mentioned RINO's.
  4. Jon Huntsman-- lacks the great hair of Mitt Romney, the folksy charm of Mike Huckabee and the big city profile of Rudy Guilani. What's left?

Well I dont know what or who an “Evangelical” is suppose to be...

But I didnt vote for Romney because I’m a Conservative and he’s a liberal...

It was merely politics...social and otherwise..

It had nothing to do with religion...

Huckabee isn’t running. His wife doesn’t want it, he just signed a large contract with Fox and is building a mansion in Florida. He’s going to need that paycheck. His fundraising is pitiful and his staff from the last election has signed on with other politicians. The word has gone out in his inner circle, he ain’t running.

Romney is going to skip Iowa and South Carolina. His poll numbers are collapsing, so the scramble is on to find an establishment replacement.

Daniels, Huntsman, or Thune are starting to look like options, but none of them have any name recognition and are long shots.

This is a chance to elect a real conservative, and don’t kid yourself, the establishment is not afraid Sarah would lose...they are afraid she would win and screw it up for Jeb in 2016. That’s why they attack her 24/7... if they don’t kill her off before the primaries start, they know it’s hers.

Hmm, is he conservative?

I think this would hurt Romney the most.

Romney has imploded, Huckabee (the one they thought could take Sarah out) isn’t running. Pence isn’t running.

My first priority is to do everything to make sure that Romney does NOT get the nomination, but I have seen nothing to suggest that his campaign is imploding, quite the opposite actually.....

And its making my stomach very sick, like I just drank a glass of milk thats been out on the counter for a week....

We can't get arrogant, and let our guard down now, Romney must be stopped, immediately, before we wind up with another McCain campaign, in 2008, I hoped and prayed, that the GOP would not be stupid enough to push him, and they did...

Since they didn't learn their lesson, they are pushing Romney now, I don't know if Governor Palin is going to run or not, if she does, good, if she doesn't, I want a plan B (Michelle Bachman ?), .....

Romney must be defeated, and now, no matter the costs so that we can take Obama out of the white house....

Jon Huntsman>>>

I could care less if he is a RINO. I’ll gladly vote for him over Obama and this guy can whip Obama’s skinny scurvy arse. Huntsman has the money connections to raise the big bucks. You know who his father is?

If Huntsman were president would he be directing the EPA to clamp down on Texas oil refineries? Would he be impeding Gulf oil drilling and production?

What kind of business background does this guy have?
