As Egypt Burns, Obama and News Media Party Hearty Saturday Night
Sunday, January 30, 2011 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/30/2011 7:42:11 AM PST by kristinn

As thirty years of United States Middle East strategy teeters on collapse, Barack Obama spent Saturday night at a going away party for David Axelrod who is leaving the administration to set up Obama's reelection campaign in Chicago. The party was held at the Dupont Circle condo of former Obama aide Linda Douglass.

Douglass, who is now with the National Journal, played host to a gathering of cabinet secretaries including Arne Duncan (Education), Timothy Geithner (Treasury) and Steven Chu (Energy) and prominent reporters including Major Garrett (National Journal), Jake Tapper (ABC), Chuck Todd (NBC) and John Harwood (CNBC/New York Times).

Obama spent nearly two hours at the party.

Greta Van Sustern appears to be the only one in the media to report on Obama's party with her colleagues. Were it not for her posting the pool reports by the National Journal's Rebecca Kaplan at Fox News' GretaWire, the public would not know that Obama spent Saturday night partying with the media while Egypt burns.

Pool report #3.

Pool report #4.

It seems like Obama can do anything he wants. Had W done this, the press would be doing 24 hours 7 days a week about how he didn’t “care”! I am so so sick of these hypocrites!

Jimmy Carter (1979) redux:

Egypt and Iran: Will We Again Fuel the Fires of Revolution?
http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/egypt-and-iran-will-we-again-fuel-the-fires-of-revolution/?singlepage=true

If Obama emulates the horrendous decisions Jimmy Carter made during the Iranian revolution, radical Islam will spread through the region like a forest fire.

Egypt is the largest nation in the Arab world and the fulcrum of American foreign policy among Arab nations. Its streets are ablaze with fires; its police have been withdrawn and replaced by the army; an attempt by President Hosni Mubarak to quell the rioters has only inflamed them further. The Obama administration is responding as if it is tiptoeing through a mine field. Those waiting for American leadership have to contend with the empty platitudes of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is urging restraint on the Mubarak regime.

The scene is all too reminiscent of the Iranian revolution of 1979. Then, President Jimmy Carter not only demanded restraint but also had his administration work behind the scenes to bring down the shah. Carter believed he was watching a democratic revolution unfold, one led by Mehdi Bazargan, Sadegh Ghotbzadeh and Abulhassan Banisadr. Neither Carter nor his advisers understood that this democratic-centrist revolution, like those in Europe, would be short-lived. Bazargan resigned from the government over its authoritarian turn; Ghotbzadeh was shot by a firing squad; and Banisadr fled to France, where he currently lives under heavy police protection.

As someone who spent decades studying riots, revolutions, and other forms of civil violence, I have some advice for the administration: [snip] (continue reading at above link)

I had my own problems with W on a number of key issues, but certainly the kid glove treatment (based in hypocrisy and being bought off) of Obama by the US press is absolutely sickening. It summons force chunks of vomit from one’s stomach.

Jake Tapper responded on Twitter to my question about whether being invited to exclusive Obama parties affects his "reporting" (also directed to Chuck Todd and Major Garrett.

Tapper's reply:

Jake Tapper @KristinnFR have also attended social events thrown by GOP officials. Doesn't impact reporting except as way to meet potential sources.

The Red-Green Alliance: Muslim Brotherhood, ANSWER Battle Mubarak
BigPeace ^ | 1/29/2011 | Dave Reaboi
http://bigpeace.com/dreaboi/2011/01/29/the-red-green-alliance-muslim-brotherhood-answer-battle-mubarak/

As soon as I’d heard about the events in Tunisia, I hopped over to the English-language website of the Ikhwan, or the Muslim Brotherhood. [One of the delights of tracking the Brotherhood in America and internationally is the differences between their very friendly-looking web presence for gullible Westerners, the English Ikhwanweb, and the more militant and honest site in Arabic, Ikhwanonline. Just a comparison of their banner images— the crossed swords in Arabic, vs. the girl with a ‘freedom’ banner in English— tells you a story of deception. See for yourselves.]

When I learned that the Muslim Brotherhood was four-square behind the revolution in Tunisia– and was gearing up for the protests (the Friday ‘Day of Rage’) in Egypt, I knew something really bad was afoot. [snip] (continue reading at above link)

We pledge to provide direct access and cut through red tape. “ “The US Government and the Muslim groups will hold an Iftar dinner breaking the fast of Ramadan after the workshop. “ SOURCE bigpeace.com

The Muslim Brotherhood in America

The Muslim Brotherhood is a group that’s committed to jihad, sharia law and establishing Islamic domination in the U.S. The organization shares the same goals as al Qaeda, but some experts believe — as a long-term threat to American security — the Brotherhood is more dangerous than Osama bin Laden’s followers.(Excerpt) Read more at cbn.com ...

What is the latest on Tunisa? I haven’t followed that revolt very closely. Is the MB rearing their ugly agenda there yet?

MB is supporting El Baradei according to news reports. The left in this country loves ElBaradei because he is an anti-american zealot who helped the enemies of America get the bomb and helped them undermine Bush’s foreign policy/agenda in Iraq,Iran and North Korea.
It is beginning to look like a leftist,UN, MB plot unfolding across the Middle East. Get ready for the stock market to crash and oil to go through the roof. I shuddered to think of Iran controlling the Hormuz Straight and the Muslim brotherhood/Islamists controlling the Suez Canal. 17

Originally wondered who organized the 5 pro-Egypt protester rallies in the US in Chicago, New York, DC, Seattle, & Atlanta.

Notice DC’s organizer’s own organization & his close personal association with Elbaradei’s organization (formed in Feb 2010)- and Elbaradei link with Soros.

Stunner. Muslim Brotherhood Announces They Will Support El-Baradei
Gateway Pundit ^ | 1/30/2011 | Jim Hoft
http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/01/stunner-muslim-brotherhood-announces-they-will-support-el-baradei/

The radical Muslim Brotherhood announced moments ago that they will support Mohamed ElBaradei to negotiate with the government.

Reuters reported:

Egyptian opposition forces have agreed to support opposition figure Mohamed ElBaradei to negotiate with the government, a leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood said on Sunday.

“Political groups support ElBaradei to negotiate with the regime,” Essam el-Eryan told Al Jazeera television.

Al Arabiya television carried the same report on screen but did not attribute it directly to Eryan.

ElBaradei, the former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, came back to Egypt on Thursday night, just in time for the “Day of Anger” protests which have left President Hosni Mubarak clinging to power with the army in the streets. ARAB TV CHANNELS QUOTES EGYPT’S BROTHERHOOD FIGURE ESSAM EL-ERYAN SUPPORTING ELBARADEI TO “NEGOTIATE WITH REGIME”

El-Baradei has a long history with the Muslim Brotherhood. The Daily Beast reported:

Egypt’s new opposition leader, former International Atomic Energy Agency head Mohamed ElBaradei, has formed a loose alliance with the Brotherhood because he knows it is the only opposition group that can mobilize masses of Egyptians, especially the poor. He says he can work with it to change Egypt. Many scholars of political Islam also judge the Brotherhood is the most reasonable face of Islamic politics in the Arab world today. Skeptics fear ElBaradei will be swept along by more radical forces.

More… El-Baradei says in CNN interview Mubarak must leave “today” to make way for unity government. (Twitter)

I fear you are right. Liberalism has, like a cancer, eaten away at the levels of knowledge and concern in our citizenry. I see it very prevalent in younger people (20s, 30s), who have NO clue about what is going on here much less overseas. I also see it in many older folks who limit themselves to Katie Couric and their local newsrag.

This is how Obama has lasted two years with an absolutely abysmal job performance.

Yeah, but the US presidency can be soooooooo boring if the president focuses on his job. What’s the use of being the head of the (decreasingly) free world, if one can’t party whenever the mood strikes?

Al Arabiya TV is going ape shit right about now (watching it live) as this El-Baradei is heading for the big square to give a speech. I guess he is not under house arrest after all. Will be interesting to see if Cairo has its “Tienanment Square” tonight as we speak. There are litterally 10s of thousands out there right now, the thanks are in place, and jets are flying low in psy war maneuvers on the crowd.

“Yeah, and he went to his daughter’s baskeball game in the morning, while Biden and Hillary talked about the situation. Obama is not concerned with the duties of the job. He just wants to eat his waffle.”

- Does he *ever* work?:

“...As events unfolded Saturday, Obama and his advisers kept a low profile.

The president spent part of the morning watching one of his daughter’s basketball games at a community center in the Maryland suburbs.

At the White House, top diplomatic, security and intelligence officials gathered for two hours for review the situation in Egypt. The meeting was led by national security adviser Tom Donilon and included White House chief of staff William Daley and CIA Director Leon Panetta. Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Margaret Scobey, the U.S. ambassador to Egypt, participated by teleconference, the White House said.

Obama did not attend that session.”

Obama spent Saturday night partying with the media while Egypt burns.

So what's new. Our King is a party boy that never grew up. All the Presidency means to him is that he won the lottery. Every incident that happens he shrinks into his party or vacation mode.
