An array of Republican heavyweights who backed Mitt Romneys 2008 presidential bid are not yet committed to - and in some cases, downright skeptical of - the former Massachusetts governors all-but-certain 2012 campaign.
In each of the traditional early states, top Romney supporters from the last campaign tell POLITICO that theyre hesitant to get behind the nearest thing the GOP has to a frontrunner. His difficulties are particularly acute in Iowa and South Carolina, where his former enthusiasts say they have not heard from him, believe he may be intent on downplaying the states in his second White House run and are openly flirting with his potential rivals.
But those two states where Romney had difficulties with their socially conservative electorate in 2008 arent the only ones where the former governor is losing support.
Former Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), the top elected official in the Granite State whose endorsement of Romney in 2008 was seen as a pivotal moment, said in an interview that hes firmly undecided about who hell back in next years primary.
Im listening to all the candidates and have not made any decision, Gregg told POLITICO. Its one of the more open fields Ive seen over the years. There is no presumptive favorite at this time the way there was with McCain, Bush, Dole and Bush I.
Asked specifically what Romney needed to do to earn his support again, Gregg, who was a national co-chair of the Bay Staters bid in 2008, said flatly: I havent made any decision.
The list of past Romney supporters now on the fence or on the other side includes high-profile figures like Gregg,Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, as well as lesser-known but influential behind-the-scenes players like Iowa power broker Doug Gross...

I haven't seen any polls showing the Mittarded One leading anything. Maybe in the fevered imagination of the bankster cartel and their media minions.
The talking heads are pushing this loser with all their might. It reminds me of the way they pushed McMaverick leading up to 2008.
I’m tired of the media and the party elites picking our “favorites”!
Reorient yourself. Limbaugh, Levin, Tancredo and Arpaio and others opted for Romney over McCain the days before Super Tuesday, February 5, 2008.
Brain stem. It prevents any voluntary or involuntary nerve impulse from making it to the extremities, triggering a weapon or device that would harm hostages or bystanders.
Or did you mean deer?
;-)
Those conservatives pundits who did support/endorse Romney are: Coulter, Ingraham, and Levin. Mark Levin has since admitted what a mistake that was and will never do it again.
Ingraham's fawing over Mitt's attractiveness as a reason to vote for him made my head numb.
And he's right... as usual. And that's with half his brain tied behind his back, just to make it fair. He has talent on loan from God. N'Kay?

Nor will I.
Limbaugh did not support Romney.
NO ONE WANTED ROMNEY.
His pathetic RomneyBOTs pretended there were endorsements.
THERE WERE NONE.
Limbaugh never supported Romney.
Romney: "Thank ME that my faithful, blind but not too bright,
RomneyBOTs like "Will88"
who keep working FOR ME, ignoring
my covering up my fake endorsements, my fake troopers,
sporting fake badges, illegal security tactics, bizarre staffers,
hatred of the military, release of unrepentant murderers, receipt of AIG Contributions in 2008 ,
my imposition of gay marriage by usurping the Mass. Constitution,
my infliction of socialized medicine without a vote to impose European "healthcare" (except for me),
my abuse of Seamus violating Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws,
most say were uncalled for
for making me a presidential candidate of distinction. in many ways leading to
TIME's 200 comments from readers complaining of animal cruelty
which did unfairly expose me,
like the Globe about my Belmont illegal alien sanctuary,
or so many about my team secretly criticizing and attacking Gov. Palin
and the other GOP candidates who otherwise might have won."
Wasn’t that a hoot? Every time Rush said something mildly nice about Mitt, his Bots posted a thread that Rush endorsed him. LOL!
NittWitt Mitt?
Forget It!!!!!!!!
Pure RINO FRAUD.
Any insult to the CNS will result in a spasm, whereas a direct hit to either ventricle or aorta will just turn out the lights with no sudden spike to the circuitry. Not to mention you get alot more exsanguination with a ticker-tap; much better, more technicolor photo ops. (depending, as always, on caliber, load and range)
And of course I'm talking about whitetail deer. Doe's, in fact.

Learn to read. Point out where I used the word "endorsed".
Thank you. We all need to be reminded of this from time to time.
My guess is you voted for John McCain in 2008. We all have regrets.
As I said, just before the Super Tuesday vote on February 5, 2008, Rush clearly stated a preference for Romney over McCain. Others stated it in more explicit terms.
RUSH: I think now, based on the way the campaign has shaken out, that there probably is a candidate on our side who does embody all three legs of the conservative stool, and thats Romney. The three stools or the three legs of the stool are national security/foreign policy, the social conservatives, and the fiscal conservatives. The social conservatives are the cultural people. The fiscal conservatives are the economic crowd: low taxes, smaller government, get out of the way.
Rush Limbaugh *endorses Mitt Romney
When anyone finds themselves so obsessed that they can't acknowledge obvious and fairly benign facts, maybe they need to engage in a little self-examination.
Argue with each other on this subject about which your are clearly wrong.
Apart from all the other reasons to dump Mitt, the fact is HEALTHCARE is out biggest issue in 2012. It’s an albatross on O’s neck and we need to blast him on it every day. If Mitt is nominated, we lose the issue completely.
