The question was, of those two, which do you prefer? Aorta or left ventricle? Either one is less likely to cause a reflexive spasm possibly causing an already fingered trigger being squeezed.
Any insult to the CNS will result in a spasm, whereas a direct hit to either ventricle or aorta will just turn out the lights with no sudden spike to the circuitry. Not to mention you get alot more exsanguination with a ticker-tap; much better, more technicolor photo ops. (depending, as always, on caliber, load and range)
And of course I'm talking about whitetail deer. Doe's, in fact.

I'd go for the left ventricle simply because it's a larger target, and actually feeds the aorta (if I remember correctly). Go right to the source, I always say.
