Egypt protests: America's secret backing for rebel leaders behind uprising
The American government secretly backed leading figures behind the Egyptian uprising who have been planning regime change for the past three years, The Daily Telegraph has learned.

The American Embassy in Cairo helped a young dissident attend a US-sponsored summit for activists in New York, while working to keep his identity secret from Egyptian state police.
On his return to Cairo in December 2008, the activist told US diplomats that an alliance of opposition groups had drawn up a plan to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak and install a democratic government in 2011.
He has already been arrested by Egyptian security in connection with the demonstrations and his identity is being protected by The Daily Telegraph.
The crisis in Egypt follows the toppling of Tunisian president Zine al-Abedine Ben Ali, who fled the country after widespread protests forced him from office.
The disclosures, contained in previously secret US diplomatic dispatches released by the WikiLeaks website, show American officials pressed the Egyptian government to release other dissidents who had been detained by the police.

Did Mubarak win clean elections?
Oh, this is great. Oh, man.
This implies that Bush started it.
Bush’s fault! ;)
What do we expect, when we elect a usurper into the White House.
BS
This morning, Biden urged Mubarak to stay.
Now Zero will try to spin this.
“The State Department is full of morons if they think a westerns style democracy will ever take hold in Egypt.”
Why is that? It may not be a government we will like or will like us, but it is certainly possible for the people there to have a gov that represents them.
This happened because of what happened in Tunisia.
No one can credibly suggest otherwise.
Read the article. This happened before Obamao was elected.
Hang in there, Hosni! Oh, wait... what am I saying? Let's have... let's give a big Hosni a big hand here, a real big hand. Let's give a real big round of applause for Hosni Mubarak! =scattered applause=
If true, this is not unexpected-—
Muslims hate Christians and Jews and Capitalism.
Marxists hate Christians and Jews and Capitalism.
Obama is a Muslim and a Marxist.
End of story.
What Israel Fears

Gil Yaron reports:
“If regime change occurs in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood would take the helm, and that would have incalculable consequences for the region,” says [Eli Shaked, who was Israel’s ambassador to Cairo from 2003 to 2005]. The Israeli government has noted with concern the fact that, even after 30 years of peace, Egypt’s army is still equipped and trained mainly with a possible war against Israel in mind.
A cancellation of the peace treaty would open up a new front for Israel against the 11th largest army in the world, which is equipped with modern American weapons. But what Israel fears more than a — somewhat unlikely — armed conflict with Egypt is an alliance between an Islamist regime in Cairo and Hamas, which considers itself an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Biden’s remarks were damage control........
If Obama’s silence doesn’t prove he is a Saudi plant, then nothing will. The UK has already fallen to The Muslim Brotherhood.
hugely funny...lol.
Mubarek won fair and square - he got 103% of the votes!
Any new Egyptian gmvt will be riddled with hardline Islamic fundamentalists, if not right away, within months.
Egypt and Mubarak have seen the one most important controlling force keeping the radicals in check in their area. They have been getting THREE BILLION DOLLARS DOLLARS IN US MILITARY AID EVERY YEAR FOR 20 YEARS! We ran all sorts of black ops out of a base called Cairo West.
If this is true, at least 3 other govts will fall, quite possibly Saudi, and with it, their oil!
