From FOX:
DEVELOPING: Loud explosions and gunfire were heard in the Egyptian capital of Cairo Friday, as protesters demanding the removal of President Hosni Mubarak defied a curfew, Al Jazeera reported. Egyptian television reports the ruling party headquarters in Cairo are on fire.
From TWITTER:
WashingtonPost: Clinton: We urge #Egypt authorities to allow peaceful protest, reverse unprecedented steps it has taken to cut off communications less than 20 seconds ago
It was a nightmare of trying to contact the embassy, the tour guide, going to the airline counter with hundreds of others trying to get out of the country with three ticket agents on duty, waiting overnight in the airport for a possible flight, waiting in line to change flights again after the flight doesn't come through, contacting the embassy, no internet or ATM access. I read the e-mail from the couple and it was a nightmare. Every bad vacation you've ever had in trying to arrange logistics in a foreign country, these guys went through. Not to mention they spent all their on-hand cash on that overpriced cab ride and had to depend on the kindness of the hotel staff and then the tour guide to get through a couple of days in the hotel and food to eat on borrowed money.
They finally got ATM access and intermittent internet where they withdrew money to pay back the hotel and the tour guide. Their stateside travel agent was able to get them a flight out of Cairo, and they printed the vouchers off their laptop. They are still making their way back to their overseas home. Please continue to pray for a peaceful transition to a democrat government.
I guess TOTUS not MB friendly? That is why he is reading from notepad? Just trying to be funny.

Thanks for the ping:)
It didn’t seem like much of anything- except I guess he had to let the demonstrators know the US supports them and he was clear when he said the transition must begin “now”...although Obama may have hoped the now meant Mubarak would leave now...
Still a LOT up in the air and uncertainty.
The king of Jordan is a smart fellow- he is getting ahead of this.
HollyB: You hit the date after all (should repost your post)! lol

HollyB’s related post on this:
The world wants to know why the Admin isnt saying more: They do it all behind the scenes:
Last month, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and her senior staff privately met in Washington, D.C., with a select group of Muslim, Arab, and Sikh organizations. Among the mix were three organizations directly associated with an outlawed terrorist entity the Muslim Brotherhood.
Secretary Napolitano spent an hour and a half briefing them on Department of Homeland Security (DHS) counter-radicalization and anti-terrorist programs. The intensive briefings spanned two days (January 27 and 28[2010]) and were called by the DHS.

You know they wanted him to leave yesterday. You also know they are a happy bunch in this WH. The possibility of MB taking over real soon.
Thanks for the account of your co-worker family trip- sounds like the adventure from hell- but glad they’re on they’re way to their home.

“Still a LOT up in the air and uncertainty”
Yes there is. And the consequences are far reaching.
Just a heads up: On Thursday, Yemen is having a big protest against Saleh. AJ states another protest scheduled in Egypt on Friday. Syria is organizing for a Saturday protest against their president.
Busy week. Lots of countries to topple.
0bama wants Sharia law in the mideast.
That was funny.
Obama says there will be "many difficult days ahead ... but I am confident that the people of Egypt will find those answers."
interpretation: Here is a half-truth... but youinzis go have fun now.
You bet he does! This WH has a Sharia Financial adviser.
I don’t know who told you that sorry it’s not true I’m not nearly that knowledgeable. What comes to mind though is India had a 70% import duty on Rice. They had removed it because of the monsoons they had to import it. They are normally an exporter. Rice is on the rise right now. Here’s a chart and some more information hope that helps.
