From FOX:
DEVELOPING: Loud explosions and gunfire were heard in the Egyptian capital of Cairo Friday, as protesters demanding the removal of President Hosni Mubarak defied a curfew, Al Jazeera reported. Egyptian television reports the ruling party headquarters in Cairo are on fire.
From TWITTER:
WashingtonPost: Clinton: We urge #Egypt authorities to allow peaceful protest, reverse unprecedented steps it has taken to cut off communications less than 20 seconds ago
That was a very informative article. Thanks for posting.
Rubin has been decidedly pessimistic this week.
I tend to agree with him.
” I tend to agree with him. “
Me too, Mom.. {sigh}
Just goes to show you that sometimes you need to use other sources to find your stuff.
FOX News just announced that Mubarak will step down.
Oh, s**t....
Clarification.....Mubarak will announce that he will step down at the next election. (Sept.?)
Can someone verify this?
It’s also in ‘breaking news’ on the FR home page.
Thank you for bringing this to (what I now refer to as) Thee Thread.
foxnews banner states he won’t seek re-election. (He’s still in place)
It’s too late. If he had announced this a week ago maybe things would be different. The protests won’t stop until he gets on the plane and leaves. They’ve won and he just admitted it. He’ll resign in the next 72 hours and leave the country. He has little choice.
Now keep him

President Hosni Mubarak will say in a speech that he will step down at the next election but would stay in office until then, Al Arabiya TV said on Tuesday.
