WASHINGTON – Senate leaders said Thursday they have agreed that minority Republicans would filibuster fewer bills and nominations in exchange for a promise by the Democratic majority to give them more chances to offer amendments.
The gentleman's agreement announced by Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican leader Mitch McConnell was part of a package of measures to make the Senate a more workable and less contentious place. It also included support of a resolution, to be voted on later in the day, to end the practice of one senator being able to secretly block votes and a rules change that would slash by a third the number of presidential appointments that need Senate approval.

The Dems know that they will be the minority come 2012. All they are doing is setting things up so they can still run the Senate when they no longer have the majority. The Repubs will sit on their hands and watch them do it, silently.

If this does not PROVE that at the CORE <— there is no difference between the Democrats and Republicans.. our ONLY hope in 2012 is to fill every seat with an INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE !! and the process for doing that is GOOOH ! at least for the House.. which is really where we need to focus our attention since it is the House that hold America’s PURSE STRINGS !
