WASHINGTON – Senate leaders said Thursday they have agreed that minority Republicans would filibuster fewer bills and nominations in exchange for a promise by the Democratic majority to give them more chances to offer amendments.

The gentleman's agreement announced by Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican leader Mitch McConnell was part of a package of measures to make the Senate a more workable and less contentious place. It also included support of a resolution, to be voted on later in the day, to end the practice of one senator being able to secretly block votes and a rules change that would slash by a third the number of presidential appointments that need Senate approval.

It’s as if our elected officials are hellbent on raking this nation over the coals and more, just so they can roast weinies and marshmallows at the same campfire in a bipartisan effort.

McConnell is such a little douchebag.

The rats will walk all over him on this “deal” (and everywhere else) and we’ll hear not one peep out of him.

The General Election in 2012 and the mid-term in 2014 will be the next two opportunities and possibly the last to swing the pendulum back to doing what is best for this nation and not what is expedient to satisfy those who pave the road to a further demise as a free people and pretend to be acting in all our best interests.

Anybody out there still think the 2010 election is really going to slow (even the slightest bit) the plunge into tyranny?

Well, I am certainly not part of that agreement.

The GOP will never learn.

They are in the minority in the Senate. The senate is ruled by the majority. The democrats are in the majority.

That is why the Republicans should not give up the filibuster.

Why agree to not use all your tools when the other guy wants to dominate ?
