This is a "word cloud" of President Obama's State of the Union address. The size of the words correspond to the frequency with which they were uttered by Obama. By looking at the cloud (which doesn't include common words like the, because that would be stupid), you can see some of the themes Obama focused on: "jobs," "people," "new."
Last night, after it was over, NPR asked its listeners to describe Obama's address in three words. They then tallied up all 4,000 or so responses and made that into a word cloud a snapshot of what people took away from the speech. Here's what it looks like:
This is why we can't have nice things.
Why not we already have a Carp Czar
Also MIA:
THREATS TO USA
IRAN
MIDDLE EAST
ISRAEL
RUSSIA
CHI-COMS
Terrible speech. Hazy & vague
Sputnik ? Salmon? High Speed Rail? Just what we all dream of.
Well he did say this....
And as extremists try to inspire acts of violence within our borders, we are responding with the strength of our communities, with respect for the rule of law, and with the conviction that American Muslims are a part of our American family. (Applause.)
As a side note... in playing around with this I looked around for “word cloud” (which I think is an interesting art form) and found this site:
You can paste in whatever text you have and it makes a word cloud out of it.
Neato. :-)
Cloud? I thought it looked like a turd.
Hmmm. I don’t see Salmon. I see Fat Man. You know, the weapon which devastated one of Japan’s cities near the end of WWII. Poetic, considering Obozo’s intent is to destroy America.
When he was with the Orioles, his roommate saw him crumpling up pages of the newspaper and scattering them about the room.
"What the hell is that for, Chico?", asked the roommate.
"Ghosts, mon. If they come for me in the night, they step on wad of paper. It wakes us up, we get away."
"Oh."
Chico was a character. There are a lot of stories about him...
Salmon spelled backward is Nomlas. Makes as much sense as the speech....
“Bezbol bin berry berry good to Chico.”
Obama’s speech was a “Salmon in the Moonlight” it shined but it stunk.
So... all of our lives depend not only on finding someone back there that can fly this plane, but also finding one that didn’t have fish for dinner.
Great...thanks for that link!
Salmon Rushdie?
