Nebraska Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson said Wednesday during a conference call with Nebraska reporters that he intends to get rid of the aisle in the Senate that divides members by party affiliation.
Im going to advocate if there truly is an interest in working together that we get rid of the aisle on the Senate floor, said Nelson, We could sit not by party but by state, or by alphabet, or some other way that erases the partisan divide.
We could sit not by party but by state, or by alphabet, or some other way that erases the partisan divide.
Others will probably join in. Weve already gone through the exercise of last night so it should not be difficult to get others to sign onto the idea, said Nelson, The idea would be to send a joint letter to the leaders suggesting mixed seating.
Nelson said that he is advocating this step as a more concrete follow-up to the bipartisanship of Tuesday nights State of the Union address, where many congressmen chose to sit with colleagues of a different party.
Although one of the Senates most conservative Democrats, polling indicates that Nelson may follow the course of former Arkansas Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln to a resounding re-election defeat.
Recent polls show that Nelson is vulnerable in his bid for re-election in 2012. A December poll conducted by Magellan Strategies shows Nelson down 14 points when matched against Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning.
It was "You lost, we won".
“Mr. President..TEAR DOWN THIS AISLE!!!!”
Ben and Bill Nelson are scum.
Get rid of the aisle, and they can catapult them into their seats, since there will be no way left to walk in.
That would be kind of fun. Get the students from some Latin course to build them a Roman catapult.
Typical....shitload of work to do an polidiots want to rearrange the deck chairs....
Doom on em...
“bi-partisanship is supposed to be in vogue”
Too bad; WE WON.
Or around....
All the issues, spending, threats, wars, and Ben Nelson’s concern is an aisle.
Dumb **** can’t even think of a real issue to talk about.
The Dems have developed a bad case of the loser’s limp. So, it would seem, that they have gone into full pansy mode.
Perhaps, but keeping them “employed” in an inefficient, bloated, and private-sector job killing Fedzilla is simply delaying the inevitable, and promoting the country’s demise.
Ah yes, those were the good ol' days when money talked.....
Boy, oh boy! When they’re on the losing end of things, they want to change how things are done! “Work with me, but me not with thee!” Pathetic!
The Democrats are sinking, and they want Republicans to bail.
I don’t think Cornhuskers would approve of such seating arrangements, as they will continue to sit together and hope for victory. Nelson is reconciled to national defeat if not his own in 2012.
I hope the voters in Nebraska have a long enough memory to remember the “Nebraska Comprimise” farce.
Even with spell check, I screw it up.
Funny how this “civility” and “bipartisanship” horsecrap always comes up after the scumbag rats lose an election.
Screw them.
“...We could sit not by party but by state,...”
Hmm, a division of states. I thought that was tried once. Actually, I too believe the aisle is no longer useful. Replace the aisle with a 10 foot fence.
FORTIFY THAT AISLE. And then advance it.
As soon as Rats stop trying to turn the country into a copy of the USSR and instead start REDUCING the size of government and regulations, then we will think about it.
