Rush Limbaugh is fond of saying the left will always tell you whom they fear by making that person the focus of their most virulent attacks. The left despises Sarah Palin. They say she is stupid and incapable of ever assuming the role of president. They mock her education, (B.S. University of Idaho), her small town background and her political accomplishments ( 2006 - 2009 Governor of Alaska ). When she resigned the governorship, they said she was a quitter. Just recently, the left indicted her as being responsible for the shooting of Congresswoman Gibbs in Arizona.
But what of pundits on the right, the Peggy Noonan-Karl Rove types? They hold Palin in equally low esteem. And what of conservative women? Many just viscerally dislike her. Ask them about Palin. Youll get a response which begins with a shaking of the head and some comment about being inexperienced. Press them for facts. You will find most of these women ignorant of Palins background and remarkable accomplishments. Why is that?
Is it because Sarah Palin does not look at all like the admired but camera-challenged women in government, such as Hillary Clinton and Justice Sotomeyer? She has not the stern, formal look of a Maggie Thatcher, the British Prime Minister who turned around Englands economy nor of Golda Meir, the tough former leader of Israel. Palin is softer, attractive, plain spoken albeit with a sometimes irritating voice. Does her appearance put people, especially women, off?
All but three of our presidents in the last hundred years graduated from elite universities, often with law degrees. Truman did not attend college. Ike graduated from West Point, and Reagan graduated from Eureka College in Illinois. Those three are considered among the best of presidents by most. Reagan and Truman were thought stupid by some. Is it that Palin did not graduate from an elite university that causes some conservative pundits to reject her as unintelligent?
George W. Bush was considered stupid and incompetent by the governing elite because he actually believed in God and prayed daily. This despite two Ivy League degrees.
Sarah Palin is openly Christian and prays regularly. She was president of a Christian group in high school. She is pro life and rejected terminating her last pregnancy when she found she was carrying a baby with Downs Syndrome. Perhaps that is the problem for some of her critics.
It seems unlikely that her performance as mayor of Wasilla, cutting taxes while expanding the towns facilities so that it could grow, would be anything but a plus. Just so her role as a member of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. She outed two corrupt officials, one of whom was chairman of the state Republican Party.
Was she wrong in running for governor to oust a corrupt and wasteful officer of her own political party? Was it lack of wisdom which led her to sell the state plane, cut expenses of her office by 75 percent and pass a bipartisan ethics bill? Was she impolite in chasing away the oil company lobbyists so that she could start work on a stalled pipeline for natural gas? Not likely.
President Obama was elected because he appeared to be extraordinary. His academic pedigree and soaring rhetoric shielded from voters his appalling lack of real-world experience and complete lack of substantial accomplishments. His presidency is struggling.
By contrast, Sarah Palin, despite her talents and obvious achievements, seems very ordinary. Americans, believing the smears and punditry, will likely reject Palin without really getting to know her. Once again the nod will go to a member of the cultural elite, a group which has routinely failed to govern well.

That would be Univision as McCain's VP in 2008. What do you think she should have said as a VP candidate in a Presidential race?
Load up the cattle cars?
As opposed to my post...

"learn from Reagan's mistakes"
That would be the follow-up AFTER his amnesty which the DEMS reneged on. The Democrat controlled Congress promised Ronald Reagan they would build a border fence, increase the Border Patrol and do other steps to stop all further illegals entering if he would sign the Amnesty bill. He did and the Democrats in Congress then reneged on every promise they made.
Sound familiar?
BTW, folks used to think the Earth was flat. The commoners figured that one out too.
So, one more time...
Currently there is no other pathway than the existing laws.
A amnesty bill must first go through the House and Senate. Not very likely now.
Until such pathway exists the way I read this is Sarah is saying rather plainly and with no embellishment "you will be deported."
She states her first step is to "register" all the illegals, AS illegals.
That alone will put the fear in them, sending many back across the border, getting the attention of potential employers and will certainly send the communists into a foaming-at-mouth rage causing them to make mistakes. An "amnesty" such as what we were looking at with McCain is not in the cards.
.
Do you REALLY believe that any Congress you or I can imagine would institute a policy to deport upwards of 30 MILLION illegal aliens (most of which are Hispanics) with voting patterns being what they are? If not, what do we do with those illegals? Please give us your plan.
I'd like to see how she does on the platform with Mitt and Huck and the others. She was not bad against Biden, and she's had a whole lot of practice in processing the issues at the national level since then. If she's not ready, she won't get the nomination. If she is ready (and a debate with her on the platform will get the viewers to let everyone know the truth before the twist and media spin), then she'll get the votes she needs in both the primary and the general election. We have 17 months to decide. Let's use them, but do so with an open mind.
If she proves that thinking wrong -- great. But people get tired of hoping that politicians will turn out to be better than they've shown themselves to be.
I'd love for her to prove me wrong, but so far she looks more like Bush than like Reagan -- more like the kind of politician who disappoints than the kind that impresses.
“She needs more seasoning.’
That’s what the past 2 years and the forthcomming 2 years is all about.
We can all agree that going from backwater Alaskian politics to the National Political stage takes a bit of growth/learning on an individual.
I have seen a dramatic growth curve from Sarah, and given that she started out as a dynamic/inspirational speaker, one that proded the left ,out of fear, into a full on assualt on her both politically and personally, I think that you’ll have to agree that she is on track to be a highly competitive National (Presidential) candidate.
Whether she can defeat/overcome the Democrats/MSM tag team will be a true test of her stature as a Reaganesque-like Conservative torch-bearer. I believe that Sarah is her own person and will be able to surpass the success that Reagan had in going around the Democrat/MSM propaganda machine, because of her mastery of using alternative media avenues such as Twitter/Facebook...etc......
Certainly she has come a long way. She is a news maker, highly relevant. Her FB posts are timely and on-point (”death panels”).
Just don’t think America will elect her. Not an indictment on her, but on the electorate.
You mean other than the fact that the libtards hate her even more than they hated George Bush.
Can I really tell you? I don’t want to make anyone angry. But, I have posted this before, here is how I see it:
I lobbied hard for McCain to pick Sarah...I really like her. But, I see Sarah in the same role, in this fight for conservatism, as MLK was in the fight for equal rightsthe leader of the march, the organizer, the standard bearer. She motivates and inspires others to join the fight for freedom and liberty. She is the heart of the movement.
MLK would not have been as effective as a Senator or even President; I think the same can be said of Palin.
We need someone to take over and fix the mess Obama has created. Someone who has experience cleaning up these types of problemsand to motivate and sway others in the right way to do things. We do not need anymore on the job training! Nor another ideologe who has great ideals, can stir up support but then has no clue how to implement any improvement planno idea how to lead other people.
I am sorry, but Sarah does have a history of pointing out problems, then resigning when things get hard. She quit the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 11 months after being appointed, and after stirring up a hornets nest and rooting out the corruption. Why not stay and mend what was broken, instead of gaining recognition and leaving a mess?
Then Sarah quit the job that would have given her the right kind of experience, the governorship, after only 2 years on the job, much of the last year, spent campaigning nationally. I understand why she quit...but we need a person who would know how to get out of that kind of political trouble, without quitting! And the fact remains that her trouble began because of the very ethics law she pushed through and signed. We need someone with the experience to see and understand the consequences of their good intended actions. There are a lot of bad guys in the global arena who do not like America, and who can do worse things than the Dems did to her!
A few more red flags about Sarah for me. Are that she increased Wasillas town budget from 4 million to 6 million. We need government to cost us less, not more.
Secondly, right now, Alaska has two competing pipelines, in the works. One a government promoted and favored project; the other a private project. At Sarahs leading, the Alaska State government gave Transcanada corp, 500 million dollars to build a pipeline and also gave them a 10 year freeze on production taxes to transport their gas through the pipeline.(a government projecta stimulus package, if you willbenefiting a Canadian company, btw) Then, the state govenment, under her leadership, raised the basic oil production tax by 2.5%. Trouble is, that the pipeline can not even go into production until federal energy regulators approve it! Politics rears its ugly head! And the person who pushed this through is nowhere to be found. She is on tv and book tours! This is becoming a bridge to nowhere..
Stimulus packages and tax hikes are not what I like to hear that our government is doing!
And then, what happened, is that the oil companies decided to build their own pipeline. Spending their own money. CAPITOLISM!
She does have very strong credentials to run for office. But, I doubt her ability to run the office in an efficient way, with foresight and cunning, if she were to win.
“Just dont think America will elect her. Not an indictment on her, but on the electorate.”
Part of that seasoning we were talking about, and the end runs around the Dems/MSM is connecting with Ma PA America a la Reagan is what Palin is doing right now. Guess we will see on whether or not she has been successful during the upcomming 2012 election cycle......
My crystal ball on that one is broke, however, so far she seems to be achieving her goals in introducing herself to middle America under her terms............
Yup, it's a piece of cake.
If not, what do we do with those illegals? Please give us your plan.
All it would take is a bounty system. Pay $1,000 for every illegal turned in and fine $50,000 for turning in citizens or anyone else who is here legally. Offer a $10,000 bonus for any illegal from a Middle Eastern country.
They'd be virtually gone in two years. It's more effective than even a fence and would go a LONG way toward ridding the country of potential terrorists.
Their dry, instrumental view of humanity, and their cynicism in exploiting what they know about humanity, combine to give advertising and marketing especially the highest suicide rate of any calling in America.
I think she might’ve jumped the shark with her TV show. It’s gonna turn off a lot of folks over 40.
Yeah, and he also appoints radical Muslims to the NJ Supreme Court, supports the mosque at Ground Zero, endorsed Mike Castle in DE, attended the Red Chinese bruhaha with zero for a state house dinner.
I just wonder who he’s playing hardball with? Makes one wonder.
McCain was "given" a very early boost in support, money plus media focus as a result of "winning" early primaries in states that feature "open primaries" where liberals gave us the candidate they knew wanted as their leader of the opposition.
Sarah is more of a man than any liberal, conservative or Independent! She has more balls than any man today and just as much as Reagan had!
Any Republican who's the head of the ticket will be hated by Americans according to the polls! She been vetted for 2 and half years and has been leading the conservative movement at the same time!
To Pissant and other so called conservatives, being conservative is following the Constitution and treating women as equals!
This is not a Supreme Court edict but the bill of Rights and the Constitution!
No, it seems you are working very hard to exclude the only true conservative with a chance to defeat the Obama regime in 2012. Please tell me how Governors Romney, Huckabee, Pawlenty or any other candidate now being seriously mentioned is an improvement on Governor Palin.
