Rahm Emanuel's residency fight just took a turn for the worse.

The Illinois Appellate Court ruled 2-1 to overturn a Chicago Board of Elections decision to allow Rahm Emanuel on the mayoral ballot.

Rahm's Attorney Kevin Forde says "its a surprise."

More to come. Check back for details.

...the appeals court deemed the Board and the Circuit Court to have confused the legal principles of "domicile" and "residence:"

In other words, the Chicago house he rented out for 2 years (locked basement room with personal possessions notwithstanding) is a "domicile" not a residence. Poor Rahmbo. Welcome to the ranks of the unemployed.

No day is without its little ray of sunshine. Did Rahm say “the judge can drop dead in his black robes”? No, maybe not, that doesn’t have enough vulgarity.

He could vote there, but to be able to run for office in Chicago (which Chicago itself defined in law), he had to physically live there for one year.

It’s a joke to think he’d be qualified to run for mayor.

No, but the Chicago River is missing a fish. The judge might need a clothes pin before he opens his mail.

Feel good about the feeling. Axelrod knocked Brack’s senatorial opponents off the ballot using these same tactics.

Aw, he must be very disappointed; I mean, this sort of news isn’t entirely within the Utopian domain, is it?

Well, the Rahmn people can now vote for Moseley-Braun and feel good about themselves doing so! The people of Chicago have so many options.

This isn’t a surprise for anybody who’s ever had a residency fight with Chicago.

If you’re not walking in the door every night and walking out the door every morning, they don’t consider you to be a resident.

Makes no sense, didn’t they pay off or threaten the right people?

Yeah, the 'Rats must be losing their touch. I thought the same thing about them stuffing the wrong ballot boxes in this last election.

How simple it once was when people understood what the law said and abided by it.

I had a leftist piece-of-crap poster on a forum in my local paper's website tell me essentially that the law is whatever you can get away with in court. (Illegal immigration, qualification for US Presidency, etc.) They actually believe this.

It matters because Rahm knows where the bodies are buried, and might name names.

[the law is whatever you can get away with in court.]

They do believe it. There are even some politicians who have openly stated it but I can’t recall who and when.
That’s what’s wrong with our country now. We know Obama ignores the Constitution.
