MORRO BAY Fitness Jack LaLanne, the fitness guru who inspired television viewers to trim down, eat well and pump iron for decades before diet and exercise became a national obsession, died Sunday. He was 96.

I knew all that exercise would get him sooner or later.............
An amazing man. I thought he would live forever. Rest in Peace Jack.
RIP Jack..
Must have been all the exercise and juice that got him.
I vaguely remember him on TV when I was a little kid. Didn’t he sing something close the show?
Truly an amazing man. Way ahead of his time.
Great sense of humor too-he apparently had surgery in 2009 at age 95 and quipped to his family that dying would wreck his image.
“I vaguely remember him on TV when I was a little kid...”
I do as well. My Mom and my friend’s Moms would “work out” while watching his show. As little kids, we would howl listing to them grunt and stretch!
He's just one of those guys that I figured would live forever.
Was he the guy with the dog on the show with him? That goes back so far I was only a little kid...
Wow, what a long life, and apparently healthy. Amazing. Rest in Peace.
Yes, here he is singing his closing.
I wonder if your mom and her bud were really indulging in a little eye candy back then.

Yea, now that you mention it. I seem to remember some German Shepards came out at the beginning of the show.
My mom would ‘work out’ to his show in her black pedal pushers and one of my dad’s Sunday buttondown shirts. I’d be alongside her trying to follow along in undies and a t-shirt (I was only 3.) I remember his white german shepherd dog but can’t recall his name. Another icon of childhood gone.
I too thought he’d outlive us all.
It would be funny if Keith Richards makes it to 97.
Rest in Peace Jack...you were a heckuva a guy!
OMG, yes!LOL
Come to think of it, my gran’ma ate and did all the wrong things and made it to 103! So it probably is just dumb luck more than anything. : )
I was looking forward to his hundredth birthday. He was planning on marking it by swimming across the Atlantic... or something.
“.... indulging in a little eye candy back then”.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all! I can say that NOW as an adult. I remember finding out that Mom had boyfriends before meeting and marrying my Dad. I was shocked!!! I wasn’t really shocked finding out Dad had girlfriends before meeting Mom though. LOL
He did swim from Alcatraz to Fishermans Wharf on his 60th birthday. He did it handcuffed and towing a row boat. Then, on his 70th birthday, he swam across the bay at Long Beach.
