A police officer for the L.A. Unified School District has survived a shooting.
A sketch of the suspect who shot LAUSD police officer Jeff Stenroos near El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills is expected to be released sometime Thursday.
Detectives at the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division are taking the lead in the hunt for the gunman, according to watch commanders at the Topanga Station and at the school police department.
Stenroos was shot once in the chest area about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday and his bullet resistant vest saved him from serious injury. He was released from Northridge Hospital Medical Center Wednesday night.
The gunman was described as a man in his mid- to late-40s, 5-foot-9 to 5- foot-10 with long grayish hair pulled into a ponytail.
He was last seen wearing blue jeans with a dark-colored bomber jacket or sweatshirt, and he was carrying a handgun described as 9mm semiautomatic, according to Los Angeles police.

Definitely a Tea-partier...
Felt bad for the schoolkids and their parents last night.
Was that a bit of an over-reaction or what?
Thank God the officer is okay.
I find it a bit odd that this verbal description is out there, yet no suspect in custody and no sketch. I guess the description came from the officer...??
Hmmmm.....I’da figured it’d be easier to spot a Mormon Yute in that area......
Heh. I’m wondering now if the perp wore a disguise for the occasion yesterday and now looks totally different.
Exposed as a hoax! Good job!
Isn't that special?!!
