Of course, this comes from a guy who did not go back to look at his old movies to see how to properly make the newer ones, i.e., continuity, tone, composition, editing, etc. George Lucas really has fallen in any credibility at all.

I saw a TV show recently — on the History Channel, I think — that told of several ancient civilizations (such as the Mayans) who think the world will end in 2012. Perhaps Lucas saw the same show.

Actually, I think he made 3 2/3 too many Star Wars movies - episodes I-III (utterly wretched dreck), and most of episode VI, which was pretty much episode IV with a lot more special effects.

I heard an interview with an actual Mayan priest on a local talk show a few months back and even he said that the idea that the world would end in 2012 was bulls**t. Yes apparently there are still Mayan priests practicing in Central America.

Did a project on the Mayans a few years ago for an economics of National Security class.

They actually believed that things went in cycles and that Dec 2012 would just be the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.

Very interesting people. Had a very advanced culture, one of the very few to develop a written language. But they were really into human sacrifice! Very blood thirsty group.

And they also would strap a baby’s head between boards so to purposely distort it & they would dangle things very close in front of babies so their eyes would cross. They found this to be attractive for some reason. Well, we have Sarah Jessica Parker.
