Internet Controlled Shotguns Discovered In Georgia (Yes, you read that correctly)
CBS Atlanta / The Augusta Chronicle ^ | January 17, 2011

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Georgia authorities are investigating the discovery of six loaded shotguns aimed at a food plot that were rigged to be fired through a network of Web-controlled cameras.

The Augusta Chronicle reported the guns were discovered last fall on Georgia Power Company right of way in rural south Georgia.

The set up was discovered by a utility contractor and it was reported to the U.S. Office of Homeland Security.

The newspaper reported that a bulletin circulated by the Office of Homeland Security said it appeared that the rig was only intended for illegal hunting in an area known to be infested with wild hogs.

The newspaper reported that by the time officers arrived to investigate the shotgun setup had been removed.

No kidding, a set across the room from the front door would end a break in quickly.

They should encourage these set ups for hunting wild hogs. Especially if they are on private land.

Some a**hole need to spend a long, long, long time in jail. And their privilege to own a firearm removed forever.

First thing I'm going to say is I like his setup and if his story is correct I have no problem with it. I see no way of remotely moving the shotguns, I see no camera's on the shotgun's, the only thing I see is a wire going to a firing mechanism. This suggests to me that his intent is to gather as many hogs into as small an area as possible then turn the shotguns lose hoping for maximum carnage. This looks nothing like the Internet hunting that was going on in South TX, the setups they used had a wide range of motion and the camera's were set to look through the scope.

I can tell you all about feral hog's, we're being over run at an incredible rate. They tear up fences, root up the fields, they're coming into towns and getting into the trash and yards. I've seen 200+ lb boars jump over a 4 ft fence. They have large litters and plenty of them. The survival rate is incredibly high due to no predator in it's right mind wants to go against a big sow with piglet's. One plus side to this is they love road kill, where hogs are thick they keep the roads cleaned up nicely.

Redneck Claymore, I like his thinking.

It appears that no laws have been broken.

From The Augusta Chronicle:

No charges were filed in the case, but authorities say such technology is dangerous and could be used in other situations.

They can find this rig in the middle of nowhere, but they can’t stop the flow of illegals across our Border?

In GA power line right of ways are common and they belong to the power company. They are also illegally used by kids to ride their dirt bikes and four wheelers.

It seems that we should deploy some of Georgia's Utility Contractors down along our Southern border ;-)

Under the law, you are responsible for the results of any round discharged from your firearm.

This was a very irresponsible act and the owner is lucky anyone was not killed by accidental discharge.

This is the kind of behavior anti-gun people use as an example of reckless behavior for demanding restrictions upon firearm ownership.

If someone had been killed accidentally, a jury would have shown no mercy.

The song title "Hi Tech Redneck" comes to mind and not in a funny way.

Augusta GA is not the middle of no where, and the first law broken is trespass.

I hope your ignorance and like of personal responsibility, is not catching. Crap like this is not defensible when the anti hunting crowd uses to attack honest hunters.

How does he get shot? It is internet controlled, right? Why is he trespassing on private land?

The hogs are more dangerous to kids than this set up.
