Yeah they did, most of them were over in Vietnam instead of here, after the Viet Cong ‘won’ the Tet offensive.

Don’t forget the failed attempt on Gerald Ford and the shooting of George Wallace - all during Uncle Walter’s tenure. It’s like Ann Coulter observed, “for liberals, history starts today.”

While we’re at it the Univ. of Texas Clocktower shooting in ‘66.

Of course, back then, the professors returned fire with their hunting rifles (kept in their offices), which probably kept the casualties lower than they otherwis would have been.

I don’t think Walter Crankcase had anything to do with it. People were watching Ozzie and Harriet, Leave It to Beaver, Gunsmoke and Bonanza around that time.

He might want to read up on Andrew Kehoe. He killed nearly 50 people (mostly children) in 1927 when he planted 1000 lbs of dynamite in a school in Bath Michigan.

Charles Joseph Whitman (June 24, 1941 – Aug. 1, 1966) was a student at the University of Texas at Austin.

Whitman killed 16 people and wounded 32 others during a shooting rampage from the university’s tower on Aug. 1, 1966.

Scott Simon was born in 1952 so he was probably in a self induced illegal drug coma during the Cronkite years.

Walter Cronkite announcing the death of John F. Kennedy. Apparently from mysterious natural causes if Mr. Simon is to be believed.
